Job description

OVERVIEW:
The Data Management Consultant will serve as a strategic partner to the engagement leads on the Enterprise Data Issue Management and Federate Data Operations Team, to support the execution of enterprise wide projects related to the data strategy. This role is responsible for the organization of the Data Forums, including the Data Steward Meeting, Data Council, and Enterprise Data Risk Subcommittee, to ensure the agenda aligns with the desired Data Strategy priorities.
As a key member of the Enterprise Data team, this individual will oversee engagement activities spanning federated data roles across the organization. The successful candidate will partner with the Enterprise Data Issue Management and Federate Data Operations Team, ensuring the bank focuses on the highest-value opportunities while fostering strong partnerships between business and data teams.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Partner with engagement leads to elevate common trends and themes for enterprise awareness and action
  • Manage Data Forums, including the Data Steward Meeting, Data Council, and Enterprise Data Risk Subcommittee
  • Execute on opportunities to communicate objectives, priorities, pain points, and emerging trends related to the Data Strategy
  • Produce reporting to monitor program health, business outcomes, data management standards, and stakeholder satisfaction, ensuring initiatives deliver measurable results
  • Champion continuous improvement and help elevate the organization's engagement model, driving greater strategic influence and enterprise impact.
  • Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand
  • Complete other related duties as assigned

NATURE AND SCOPE:
MANAGERIAL/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
None
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years related experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 7 years higher education and/ or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years related experience
  • Experience consolidating feedback into cohesive themes to be used to influence decisions across business, data, and technology organizations
  • Experience in designing reporting used to highlight enterprise priorities
  • Ability to balance competing priorities and drive alignment across diverse stakeholder groups
  • Basic knowledge of data management concepts, terminology, roles, and responsibilities

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
  • Familiarity with the data life cycle, system development lifecycle, and strategic planning and resourcing processes
  • Experience in at least one programing language or analytical/statistical tools and using data to draw conclusions
  • Experience developing and/or implementing data management and/or data governance policy and standards
  • Experience in financial industry
