Job Title: Data Governance Analyst

Location: Virginia
Duration: Long-Term Contract

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Analyst to support the implementation of an enterprise Data Governance Program. The consultant will work with Data Owners, Data Stewards, Business Owners, Enterprise Architecture, Data Engineers, Project Teams, and Information Security to establish trusted, governed enterprise data.

The role will focus on enterprise data hosted on an AWS Data Platform and Snowflake, with responsibilities across data governance, metadata management, data quality, lineage, and stewardship.

Required Skills
  • 10+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Data Quality, Metadata Management, or Business Analysis.

  • Experience implementing Enterprise Data Governance programs.

  • Strong SQL skills for data analysis, profiling, reconciliation, and validation.

  • Experience with Metadata Management, Data Dictionaries, Business Glossaries, and Critical Data Elements (CDEs).

  • Experience defining Data Quality rules, Business Rules, Data Lineage, and Data Governance standards.

  • Strong experience facilitating governance workshops with business and technical stakeholders.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support implementation of the enterprise Data Governance Program.

  • Partner with Data Owners and Data Stewards to govern enterprise datasets.

  • Develop and maintain governance policies, standards, procedures, and documentation.

  • Maintain Business Glossary, Data Dictionaries, Metadata, and CDEs.

  • Define and monitor Data Quality rules and metrics.

  • Perform data profiling, reconciliation, and validation using SQL.

  • Document business/technical data lineage and end-to-end data flows.

  • Support governance across Bronze, Silver, Gold, ODS, and ADS data layers.

  • Collaborate with Data Engineers supporting Python-based AWS pipelines.

  • Support governance of datasets published to Snowflake.

  • Assist with data classification, retention, ILM, and internal data sharing.

  • Create governance dashboards, reports, and executive presentations.

  • Communicate governance requirements to business and technical teams.

Preferred Domain Experience

Experience in Healthcare, Behavioral Health, Medicaid, or Virginia State Government is highly desirable.
