Job description

Data Governance Consultant

LOA: 3-6+ months (extension possible)

Location: Mequon, WI (Onsite 1-2 days/week)

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri

Project Details:
Client is seeking a hands-on Data Governance Consultant to lead the buildout of a scalable governance framework supporting key IT and analytics initiatives. This role will own the end-to-end governance program—from design through execution.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement a data governance operating model (RACI, roles, decision rights)
  • Establish data issue management processes (intake, triage, escalation, SLAs, reporting)
  • Define and align KPIs (business and governance) with clear ownership and measurable targets
  • Stand up governance bodies (Executive Steering Committee, Data Steward forums) and define cadence, charters, and decision authority
  • Develop initial policies and standards (data ownership, quality, security, business terminology)
  • Drive data quality rules and assign remediation accountability
  • Operationalize workflows (issue triage, change control, escalation paths)
  • Lead quarterly governance reviews with scorecards, trends, risks, and progress tracking
Ideal Background:
  • Strong experience in Data Governance / Data Management
  • Proven success building governance frameworks, processes, and operating models
  • Experience working with analytics teams to define KPIs (not building dashboards)
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and drive initiatives independently
