Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Entry Writer / Customs Entry Specialist to join a growing customs brokerage and freight forwarding team in Philadelphia, PA. This individual will be responsible for handling customs entries, ensuring regulatory compliance, coordinating documentation, and supporting international import operations within a fast-paced logistics environment.

The ideal candidate will possess 2-3+ years of customs entry writing and freight forwarding experience and demonstrate strong organizational skills, compliance awareness, and the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and process customs entries for air and ocean import shipments
  • Review commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and supporting import documentation
  • Ensure compliance with CBP regulations, HTS classification, PGA requirements, and import procedures
  • Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, steamship lines, airlines, carriers, and clients
  • Monitor shipment status and proactively resolve clearance or documentation issues
  • Communicate with customers regarding shipment updates, missing documents, duties, and compliance matters
  • Handle ISF filings, AES filings, and other import/export documentation as needed
  • Maintain accurate shipment records and ensure timely data entry into internal systems
  • Work closely with operations and warehouse teams to support smooth cargo movement
  • Assist with billing review, file auditing, and internal compliance procedures
  • Prioritize time-sensitive shipments while maintaining accuracy in a high-volume environment
Qualifications
  • 2-3+ years of freight forwarding and customs entry writing experience required
  • Experience within international logistics, customs brokerage, or 3PL operations strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of CBP regulations, HTS classification, ISF filings, and import compliance procedures
  • Experience handling air and ocean import shipments
  • Familiarity with CargoWise, Descartes, Magaya, AS400, or similar logistics/customs systems preferred
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and customer service abilities
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently when needed
  • Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) designation is a plus, but not required
