Data Destruction and Electronic Recycling Technician Greentech Solutions LLC | Centennial, CO | Part-Time (with potential to grow to Full-Time) | On-Site

Compensation: $18.00 โ€“ $24.00 per hour, (24 hrs. per week). Application Deadline: Open until filled.

Summary: We are seeking a part-time, with the potential to grow into a full-time, detail-oriented Data Destruction and Electronic Recycling Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will handle secure data destruction and compliant e-waste recycling, and must be proficient with industry standards such as R2v3, RIOS, and NAID AAA. This role requires strict adherence to data security, environmental compliance, and quality control processes. A successful candidate will pass a background check and contribute to the safe, efficient, and responsible handling of sensitive information and electronic equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform secure data destruction on a variety of media types (hard drives, SSDs, tapes, mobile devices, etc.) in accordance with R2v3 and NAID AAA standards.
  • Inspect, disassemble, de-manufacture, and responsibly recycle electronic equipment in line with R2v3/RIOS guidelines.
  • Operate and maintain shredders, degaussers, pulverizers, and other data destruction and recycling tools safely and efficiently; operate incinerators where applicable.
  • Document destruction and recycling activities with accurate, auditable records; prepare certificates of destruction and reports as required.
  • Conduct media verification and chain-of-custody procedures to ensure data is irretrievably destroyed.
  • Classify and route items to appropriate recycling streams (e.g., metal, plastic, circuit boards, batteries) while maximizing recovery and minimizing contamination.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., e-waste, hazardous waste, OSHA) and internal policies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work area; follow 5S and safety protocols; and participate in safety meetings and training.
  • Perform quality checks on destruction results; escalate any discrepancies or non-conformities.
  • Use enterprise asset management systems to track assets, destructions, and disposal workflows.
  • Assist with logistics, including pickup and delivery coordination, loading and unloading, and palletizing or crating devices for transport.
  • Communicate with clients or internal teams regarding destruction scope, timelines, and compliance requirements.
  • Stay current with updates to R2v3, RIOS, and NAID AAA standards and related best practices; participate in ongoing training.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary training in IT asset disposition (ITAD), electronics recycling, or a related field is a plus.
  • Experience in data destruction and/or electronic recycling operations is preferred.
  • Familiarity with R2v3, RIOS, and NAID AAA standards, or a willingness to obtain relevant certifications.
  • Understanding data security concepts and the importance of chain-of-custody procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret documentation, work orders, and process instructions.
  • Basic computer skills; experience with asset management, inventory, or ERP systems is a plus.

Certifications and Skills (preferred but not required at hire):

  • NAID AAA Certification Training (or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe)
  • R2 or RIOS Certification training (or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe)
  • OSHA/General Safety or Hazard Communication training
  • Valid CDL or a safe driving record (if required for transport roles)
  • Other training if required

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. regularly; occasional heavier lifting with assistance
  • Ability to stand for extended periods; perform frequent bending, reaching, and manual dexterity tasks
  • Ability to work in environments that may be loud or have varying temperatures
  • Ability to handle dusty or particulate materials and comply with PPE requirements (gloves, safety glasses, hard hat, etc.)
