Job Description
The right candidate is passionate about data technology, but not only the design, creation and implementation of best practices but also the long-term scalability that will set Payline Data apart from the competition. An experienced database architect will bring modern solutions to the payment experience to advise, oversee and maintain the integrity and security of company-wide data assets and services.
This position is responsible for designing, creating, deploying and managing the organization's enterprise data architecture. This position will act as a technical architect for the data warehouse and business intelligence enterprise strategy. It requires deep technical expertise in data architecture, database design, ETL processes, reporting/analytics, big data, and cloud. The Data Architect should understand the system development life cycle; software project management approaches; and requirements, design, and test techniques. The Data Architect is asked to conceptualize and influence application and interface projects, and therefore must understand what advice to give and where to plug in to steer toward desirable outcomes. This candidate will work closely in several different areas including Product Management, Software Engineering, and Operations.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience, which the candidate will work closely with product management to design overall data architecture that meets related business and product requirements for back-end and front-end web applications
  • Experience designing and scaling databases on cloud computing platforms like Google Cloud Platform or Amazon Web Services.
  • Knowledge and experience in designing SQL, NoSQL and other databases technologies and a deep understanding of use cases for each.
  • Write optimized code to support application development.
  • Conduct server coding sessions for application developers.
  • Rewrite and tune poorly performing code to improve system performance by studying execution plans and optimizing the capabilities of the DBMS.
  • Ensure that all new database code meets company standards for readability, reliability and performance.
  • Develop database solutions by designing proposed system; defining database strategy, architecture, physical structure and functional capabilities
  • Maintain database documentation and relationship diagrams.
  • When performance issues arise, determine the most effective way to increase performance including hardware purchases, server configuration changes and or index/query changes.
  • Contribute to the overall system design and operational design
  • Work with developers to design and implement database strategies
  • Provide support to the business and technology teams in identifying the data flow associated with the business and guides proper data provisioning and data capture process optimization.
