Site Operations Department

The Site Operations Department is responsible for the overall health of all mechanical and electrical systems, building maintenance, and performance of all data modules in our data centers. The team is staffed 24 x 7 onsite with Critical Facility Technicians (CFTs) and Data Center Operators on each shift. This team is the face of Vantage to our customers and the first line of defense regarding the uptime of our campus as well as the performance of our customer installations. Using a Critical Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to plan and track work needed, the Site Operations department performs all preventative and corrective maintenance.Our culture expects and rewards team performance that engages directly with the customers and the facility infrastructure. This is a team that does most of the actual work versus calling upon vendors. As a result, we provide superior service that is faster and more cost effective.

Position Overview

This role is on-site in Montreal (Pointe-Claire), QC.

We are looking for a Data Center Operator, NA for our data center in Montreal (Pointe-Claire) who knows what best-in-class service looks like and can make that a reality. This role is an important member of our facilities team where we manage some of the most efficient and cost-effective data center facilities in the industry.

The successful candidate for this role will work with a team of electrical and mechanical-focused technicians performing maintenance and repair for our data center infrastructure. We take our customer requirements for uptime seriously and keep our facilities maintained to a very high standard to insure uninterrupted service for our customers.

Duties

  • Supervise site conditions using specialized electromechanical software for data centers, and produce reliability reports to meet capacity targets and ensure a 100% availability rate.

  • Escalate alarms to the appropriate professionals and ensure follow-up communication with stakeholders.

  • Generate daily monitoring reports.

  • Provide Level 1 support for customer and internal requests through a ticketing system.

  • Communicate the state of maintenance and ongoing work progress to relevant parties.

  • Ensure compliance with the daily operations schedule.

  • Assist in improving the efficiency of our tools and electromechanical installations.

Job Requirements

  • Experience working in a critical environment, preferably within a data center.

  • Solid understanding of electrical and mechanical infrastructure specific to data centers.

  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) and Energy Management Systems (EMS) is a strong asset.

  • High stress tolerance and resilience in fast-paced environments.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Bilingual (French/English) required.

  • Knowledge of MMF is an advantage.

Bilingualism (French and English) is required for this position due to the nature of the role, which involves communication with clients, interactions with counterparts in the same department, and stakeholders in the United States.
