ABOUT GREENPEACE CANADA:

Greenpeace Canada is an independently funded, non-profit organization that works towards a greener, more peaceful world, and to confront the systems that threaten people and the planet. We challenge government and industry to halt harmful practices by negotiating solutions, conducting scientific research, introducing clean alternatives, carrying out peaceful acts of civil disobedience and engaging the public. To maintain independence Greenpeace does not accept donations from corporations or governments. Greenpeace relies on individual donors and creative partnerships to fund our environmental justice campaigns.

As an organization, Greenpeace Canada recognizes and supports Indigenous sovereignty and the Land Back movement. We support the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and are committed to collaboration and consultation with Indigenous Peoples to ensure our campaigns and positions respect Indigenous rights and liberation.
Greenpeace Canada is committed to a workplace that is enriched by the people, needs and desires of Canada's diverse communities. We seek candidates with a variety of perspectives and lived experiences to effect change and will prioritize applicants from racialized and other equity-seeking groups.

The responsibilities and skills for this role are outlined below. Greenpeace Canada fully recognizes lived experiences, unpaid credentials, as well as education and work experiences from outside of Canada. If you are interested in this role but feel you do not have all the requirements listed for this position, we highly encourage you to still apply!

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a member of the Fundraising team and working closely with the Program team, the Data Analyst collects, manages, and analyzes data to achieve fundraising and engagement goals and supports Greenpeace's vision of achieving greater integration of systems and tools across the organization.

Reporting to the Head of Engagement Systems and Insights, the Data Analyst oversees the consistency and integrity of data and performance metrics, monitors and reports on key performance indicators, leads data-related projects, contributes to improving processes or workflows and provides back up on data administration as needed. Working with Greenpeace's data platform and other technical roles across the wider Greenpeace network, the analyst takes available and custom data sources and models and uses them to develop dashboards to sharpen judgment, decision-making, innovation and impact, transforming data into actionable insights for staff.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Data architecture and integration

  • Fundraising channels integration: Streamline the data pipelines transferring information to and from external fundraising vendors and channels (telemarketing, digital advertising, lead generation, etc.), ensuring data integrity.
  • Workflow automation: In collaboration with the Data Administrator, map out and maintain automated integrations using iPaaS tools (e.g., Workato, Omatic, Brightvine) to eliminate manual integration.
  • Strategic data capture: Identify gaps in current tracking and collaborate with teams to implement robust data capture methods across all acquisition touchpoints.
  • Data management: Work with the organization's modelled data and semantic layer in the cloud data warehouse (Google BigQuery).
  • Project leadership: Lead data-focused infrastructure projects aimed at improving audience segmentation, pipeline efficiency, and overall fundraising performance.

Dashboards and analysis

  • Dashboard development: Design, build, document and maintain interactive, user-friendly dashboards and BI reports that give fundraising and program teams visibility into their KPIs.
  • Multi-Channel reporting: Aggregate and analyze performance data across fundraising streams (e.g. telemarketing, paid media, lead generation) and engagement platforms. Translate complex data sources into clear, actionable insights to optimize campaign ROI and retention.
  • Strategic decision support: Conduct deep-dive analyses, train teams and present data-backed recommendations to inform both immediate campaign tweaks and long-term fundraising strategies.
  • KPIs: Help standardize, build and maintain the consistency of fundraising, lead generation and engagement metrics to ensure everyone is measuring impact the same way.
  • Audience segmentation & behavior: Build advanced donor and prospect segmentation profiles to track behavioral trends, retention rate, enabling highly-targeted, personalized campaigns across digital ads, telemarketing, email marketing and lead generation.
  • Ad-hoc analysis: Provide analytical support to teams evaluating opportunities or campaigns.

Data operations and documentation

  • Mentorship: Mentor and train team members on data systems and projects.
  • Documentation and process development: Collaborate closely with team members to establish effective processes for new data flows and to optimise processes. Participate in documentation efforts for all data-related projects.
  • Support: Perform other tasks as assigned and provide data administration back-up as needed.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role, with experience in complex data work and associated technologies (complex meaning either: large data volume, wide data type variety, velocity of data, or managing automated data pipelines/workflows).
  • Knowledge and/or experience in data analysis using SQL (essential), and ideally also Python.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of Business Intelligence and dashboarding tools (e.g. Looker Studio, Hex, Tableau or Power BI).
  • Comfort working with a modern cloud data platform (ideally Google BigQuery, or AWS, etc) and a shared/standardized data model (such as an Enterprise Data Model). Experience with data architecture and modelling (ELT, dbt) is an asset.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in integration design using iPaaS tools (e.g. Workato, Brightvine, Omatic).
  • Knowledge and/or experience of Customer Relationships Management such as HubSpot, Raiser's Edge or Salesforce.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of UTMs and web analytics.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in fundraising and/or lead generation.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in data analysis and statistical methods.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • A logical approach to work.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • A team player with a strong customer service focus.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English (French fluency is an asset).

DECISION MAKING REQUIREMENTS

The role is responsible for developing processes, identifying and meeting analysis needs within the organization, including for senior management.

SUPERVISORY AND FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The position does not exercise direct staff supervisory responsibility.
  • The position has no authority to approve expenditure.
  • The position handles highly confidential supporter information.
