Overview:

Job Title: Business Development Manager

Work Location: Herndon, VA

Schedule: Full-Time

Responsibilities:

We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager (BDM) to join our team! The candidate will serve as the front-line prospecting and engagement engine responsible for generating qualified leads, initiating early-stage customer and government opportunity engagement, and consistently securing high-value appointments that convert into pipeline. This position will create meaningful engagement with key stakeholders and ensure seamless handoff to the Director of Strategic Growth.

  • Drive business development initiatives to expand market presence and customer base, identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, partnerships, and strategic alliances.
  • Identify and engage key decision makers through daily outreach activities, including phone calls, email campaigns, and professional networking platforms.
  • Capture detailed discovery notes, business drivers and qualification insights to ensure a clean and strategic handoff to the Director of Strategic Growth.
  • Maintain a consistent follow-up cadence when next steps are not formally scheduled, ensuring opportunities remain active and continue progressing though the pipeline.
  • Initiate conversations, qualify opportunities, and schedule high-value introductory meetings with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Represent the company with customers, partners, and at industry events, advisory boards, and conferences.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required.
  • Five or more (5+) years of experience in sales, business development, or growth roles.
  • Three or more (3+) years in a technology based industry with an understanding of network solutions (data centers, fiber, connectivity, infrastructure, etc.)
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug test
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment and manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines
  • Ability to travel frequently both CONUS and OCONUS for customer visits, stakeholder and board meetings, and to network for new business partnerships.


Physical Requirements:

The work is performed in an office environment and is primarily sedentary in nature. The individual will be required to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time and alternate between different stationary positions. The individual must also be able to move about the office at times. This position requires the ability to communicate frequently. This position may occasionally require the ability to ascend stairs, reach, stoop, kneel, lift light to medium objects, view and operate a computer, keyboard, telephone, and other office equipment and to withstand moderate noise and temperatures.

This position does require travel between various customer sites, in addition to travel for network installations, customer meetings, and other government and/or contractual needs.
