Job Title: Development Manager 

Location: Palo Alto, CA

Purpose and Objective:   

SAP Labs, LLC seeks a Development Manager at our Palo Alto, CA location to set clear goals with team members, inspire, and support them towards accomplishing goals and evaluate goal achievement in a fair and understandable way.  

Expectations and Tasks:  

Set up and constantly improve a high performing engineering organization with high trust on all levels of roles and collaboration, striving for best-in class engineering processes. Responsible for supporting the success of direct reports and other employees within the larger team, by helping to identify development opportunities and supporting team members to achieve their goals. Perform minimal hands-on technical tasks and responsibilities in addition to team management, coaching, and development. Ensure product requirements, as well as non-functional requirements are built, tested, and maintained. Own technical leadership and decide on how the product is implemented. Ensure supportability of the product e.g. telemetry, performance, health check monitoring and customer feedback channels. Ensure service quality is continuously driven via e.g. root cause analysis and preventive actions. Drive adherence to support metrics and ensures 24/7 support such as Manager on Duty or Developer on Duty role.  

Education and Occupational Experience:  

Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field of study and seven (7) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related occupation. Alternatively, a Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field of study and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation. 

Qualifications/Skills and Competencies Experience:  

Experience must include four (4) years involving each of the following:  

  • Microservice Architecture; 

  • Java Frameworks including Spring MVC and Spring Boot; 

  • SAP HANA Columnar Database Cloud; 

  • SAP Business Technology Platform and XSA; 

  • SAP Cloud Application Programming Model; 

  • SAP Products including Internet of Things and Data Intelligence Cloud; 

  • Programming Languages including Node JS and Python; 

  • Event Streaming including Kafka and RabbitMQ; 

  • Team Leadership or Presentation Skills; and 

  • Incident Solving Process and Customer Escalations. 

Experience must include two (2) years involving each of the following: 

  • Temporal IO; and 

  • SAP Business Technology Platform Kyma.

SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined for this position is $388,918. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
