Job description

Product Engineer – Electromechanical SystemsDesign, Build, and Bring Innovative Products to Life

Are you the type of engineer who enjoys building things, testing ideas, and seeing your designs become real products?

We are seeking a highly hands-on Product Engineer to develop next-generation scientific instrumentation and electromechanical systems used by leading pharmaceutical companies, research organizations, and laboratories worldwide.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working across mechanical, electrical, and controls disciplines. You'll own projects from concept through prototype, integrating motors, sensors, actuators, and microcontroller-based controls while working directly with cutting-edge equipment in a collaborative R&D environment.

If you have experience with electromechanical systems, Arduino or Raspberry Pi programming, rapid prototyping, and product development, this is an opportunity to make a significant impact on innovative products used throughout the life sciences industry.

What You'll Do
  • Design and develop electromechanical systems from concept through functional prototype and production release.
  • Integrate mechanical designs with sensors, motors, actuators, control systems, and instrumentation.
  • Program and implement control logic using Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and similar embedded platforms.
  • Build, test, troubleshoot, and refine prototypes in-house using 3D printing, machining, and fabrication tools.
  • Perform system-level debugging across mechanical, electrical, and software interfaces.
  • Develop and evaluate new product concepts while improving existing product performance and reliability.
  • Support hardware integration, sensor development, data acquisition, and automation initiatives.
  • Conduct hands-on testing and validation to ensure robust system performance.
  • Apply DFMEA and other design methodologies to improve reliability and mitigate risk.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and external partners to transition products from development into production.
  • Support customer installations, field troubleshooting, and product improvements as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • 4+ years of product development, electromechanical engineering, robotics, automation, or similar engineering experience.
  • Strong experience designing and integrating electromechanical systems.
  • Hands-on experience with motors, actuators, sensors, controls, and hardware integration.
  • Experience programming and troubleshooting Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or similar microcontroller platforms.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks for mechanical design.
  • Experience creating 2D drawings and documentation using AutoCAD or similar software.
  • Ability to independently build, test, and troubleshoot prototypes.
  • Experience working across mechanical, electrical, and basic software systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and root-cause investigation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with robotics, automation systems, or motion control.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems, instrumentation, and data acquisition.
  • Experience developing scientific, laboratory, industrial, or automated equipment.
  • Knowledge of control systems, sensor integration, and communications protocols.
  • Experience applying DFMEA, reliability engineering, or design validation methodologies.
  • Hands-on maker mentality with personal engineering projects, robotics, fabrication, or product development experience.
Why Engineers Join This Team
  • Work on innovative scientific equipment used by leading pharmaceutical and research organizations.
  • Build real products—not just design them.
  • High level of ownership from concept through commercialization.
  • Extensive hands-on prototyping and product development work.
  • Small, agile engineering team with direct influence on product direction.
  • Opportunity to work across mechanical, electrical, controls, and software disciplines.
  • Fast-paced environment where ideas quickly become working products.
  • Significant visibility and impact on next-generation technologies.
