As a highly experienced R&D Engineering Program Lead, you will play a critical role in driving execution across complex R&D integration initiatives that support strategic business growth. Partnering closely with engineering leaders and cross-functional technical teams, you will lead planning, coordination, tracking and operational execution to help deliver high-impact programs on schedule.

This individual contributor leadership role combines engineering insight with R&D operational excellence to establish scalable execution practices, improve visibility through metrics and dashboards, and influence successful outcomes across a global R&D organization.

At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to work from our Valencia, CA office at least three days per week.

This is a defined term role with an expected duration of 24 months from the employee’s start date. Based on business needs and individual performance, there may be an opportunity for this role to be considered for regular full-time employment in the future.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the strategy, planning, tracking and execution of R&D activities for complex, cross-functional acquisition integration programs.
  • Develop and manage technical R&D project plans to ensure on-time delivery, provide day-to-day coordination and ensure high-quality execution.
  • Drive escalations and resolution with R&D leadership related to timeline, resource and project plan changes.
  • Operate effectively within a matrixed R&D organization to coordinate activities across multiple technical functions.
  • Influence technical strategy, support design decisions, proactively identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, align priorities and help set technical direction for the R&D organization.
  • Partner with technical teams to define product and technology roadmaps.
  • Develop metrics and dashboards to measure program performance, track progress and drive continuous process improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with Program Management, Technical Leads and Engineering teams to accelerate execution in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communicate project plans, status, risks and issues to stakeholders through clear and timely updates.

 

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in engineering or technical product/program management.

 

Preferred qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to articulate deep expertise across complex technical products and systems, ideally spanning hardware, software and systems engineering.
  • Experience leading complex technical programs or products from concept through commercialization.
  • Experience defining execution strategies and identifying opportunities to improve outcomes across products, platforms and programs.
  • Knowledge of user needs, requirements development, scope definition, medical device verification and validation, and CAPA processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently across multiple teams and functions while applying critical thinking and technical leadership.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills with senior leadership and technical management to drive alignment and decision-making.
  • Highly organized and analytical, with strong project coordination and prioritization skills.
  • PMP certified.
  • Experience building collaborative relationships across multidisciplinary teams and global stakeholders.
  • Experience partnering with product teams to deliver end-to-end customer-focused solutions, supported by a strong understanding of underlying platforms and technologies.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools to optimize individual and team workflows, improve quality and efficiency, and deliver measurable business impact.
