Job description

The Culinary Supervisor

The Culinary Supervisor is a key leadership role responsible for upholding and elevating the culinary standards. This position requires a highly skilled kitchen professional with exceptional cooking expertise, strong leadership abilities, and an unwavering commitment to quality and consistency. The Culinary Supervisor ensures that every dish executes the established standards of authenticity, flavor, and presentation. Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested by other Managers at any time.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee and evaluate daily culinary operations, ensuring consistency and efficiency in food preparation and service execution.
  • Review and maintain culinary standards, supporting accurate recipe execution, proper techniques, and authentic flavor profiles.
  • Lead, train, and mentor line cooks and prep staff, reinforcing best practices in cooking, safety, sanitation, and workflow.
  • Play a key role in onboarding and integrating new kitchen employees, ensuring uniform training and adoption of culinary standards.
  • Ensure all food handling, storage, and preparation complies with local health regulations and internal safety protocols.
  • Coordinate and communicate with chefs, supervisors, and kitchen leadership to maintain smooth, consistent service throughout.
  • Assess overall kitchen cleanliness, equipment performance, and organization, providing feedback and corrective direction when needed.
  • Support inventory management, reviewing prep lists, stock levels, and ordering needs to ensure readiness for service.
  • Promote teamwork, professionalism, and a cohesive culinary culture, helping unify staff under shared values and operational expectations.
  • Progressively document and discipline employees to promote better work performances compliant with the company policies and procedures.
  • Fulfill guestโ€™s needs quickly and efficiently as well as resolve complaints effectively.
  • Oversee proper setup, execution, breakdown, and cleanup of each catered event.
  • Execute back of the house, front of the house and side work duties for overall productivity of events.
  • Possess expert-level knowledge of menus, food presentation, and food service techniques.
  • Perform strenuous manual labor as required (equipment storage, event setup, tear down of tables and chairs).
  • Work with the catering management team to supervise and train staff.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Culinary Supervisor in high-volume settings with strong knowledge of Mexican cuisine.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to articulate to our clients, General Managers and HQ personnel.
  • Proven leadership skills with understanding of the importance of team building/development while fostering partnership.
  • Banquet and catering experience in large-scale or high-volume settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and motivate staff across multiple stations or teams.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently; bilingual Spanish is a strong advantage.
  • Ability to perform effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
  • Strong understanding of safety, sanitation, and food-handling standards.
  • Active Texas Food Manager Certification required.
  • Availability to work holidays, weekends, and flexible on AM/PM based on operational needs.
