Job description

The Culinary Operations Lead is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our Gather GVL location while actively working alongside the team. This position combines culinary execution, guest service, cash accountability, and shift leadership to ensure an exceptional guest experience and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Culinary Execution

  • Prepare and cook menu items using wok, fryer, and prep stations.
  • Ensure recipes, portions, and presentation standards are consistently followed.
  • Monitor ticket times and maintain efficient kitchen flow.
  • Assist with prep work, including proteins, vegetables, sauces, and batch preparation.
  • Protect the quality and integrity of The Wok Lobster® menu.

Operations & Leadership

  • Lead daily shift operations and provide direction to team members.
  • Open and close the Gather GVL location.
  • Delegate tasks and maintain accountability.
  • Train and coach new employees on procedures and standards.
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment.
  • Address guest concerns professionally and promptly.

Register & Cash Accountability

  • Operate the register and assist guests with orders.
  • Balance and reconcile cash drawers.
  • Complete daily cash drops according to company procedures.
  • Ensure accuracy in transactions and reporting.

Inventory & Organization

  • Receive and properly store deliveries.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate ordering needs.
  • Ensure proper product rotation and labeling.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked work environment.

Food Safety

  • Follow and enforce all food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Complete temperature logs and daily line checks.
  • Maintain compliance with health department regulations.
  • Promote a safe working environment for all team members.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a line cook, lead cook, shift leader, or similar role.
  • High-volume kitchen experience required.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Experience handling cash and maintaining register accountability preferred.
  • Ability to lead by example while actively working on the line.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • ServSafe Certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Work in a fast-paced, high-temperature kitchen environment.
  • Bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive motions throughout shifts.
