Job description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:   (90%)

  • Interact with customers in a courteous, professional, and friendly manner.
  • Maintain crop insurance information for insured’s APH and perform updates. Submit and transmit acreage and production reports via crop insurance software.
  • Report crop insurance claims, submit proper documents to claims adjuster and monitor to ensure the claim has been properly paid.
  • Prepare quotes for MPCI, Hail, Livestock, and Named Peril policies using AIP systems.
  • Communicates with agents and customers to obtain information needed to underwrite risks and address issues.
  • Work towards obtaining Crop Insurance license.
  • Strong attentions to detail, basic computer effective interpersonal & communication abilities.
  • Understanding of farming operations, crop cycles & federal crop insurance programs
  • Stay up to date on USDA & Federal legislative changes to insurance requirements through training or continuing education.
  • Ensure customers understand their policies, coverage levels & premium rates.
  • Help train new employees on crop insurance duties and stay abreast of economic trends.
  • Maintain tickler system for renewals, insurance, continuations and addendums.
  • Assist in reconciling accounts, collateral safekeeping, processing mail, compiling data for reports, and serve as branch contact person as needed.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:   (10%)

  • Provide backup support for other areas as needed
  • Adhere to compliance procedures and participate in required training.
  • Represents Bank at various civic and community events
  • Other duties as may be assigned including providing personal banking services.

ROLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • High School Diploma

Experience

  • 2-5 years previous banking and crop insurance servicing experience preferred

PERFORMANCE MEASURES:

  • Meets or exceeds annual goals as pre-established by the Crop Insurance Manager
  • Compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Meets all sales and growth goals.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed largely within the Bank with limited chance for personal injury.  Prolonged and frequent mental and visual concentration required.  Periodic stressful situations in response to multiple priorities within established deadlines.  Work hours are generally during normal business hours.  Unscheduled evening and weekend work will be needed to meet the needs of customers and employees.  Out-of-town and overnight business travel may be required. Work on some Saturdays will be required.  Must be able to lift and move up to 20 pounds of office supplies and equipment.  Some bending, turning, and twisting required.
