Job description

Facility is currently looking for Full Time and Part Time Cooks. Come join our team as a Cook in our state of the art skilled nursing facility. The cook prepares food in quantities enough for patient meals, including special foods as necessary for therapeutic diets. The cook will follow the prepared menu as written, utilizing recipes and production instructions. In addition, the cook will assist as needed with cleaning and serving of meals. The cook may also be assigned related tasks and duties by the dietary supervisor or Executive Chef.
$13.75 to $23.00 an hour, depending on certifications and experience!

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepares and cooks the residents' food
  • Ensures the food is prepared correctly and at the appropriate quantity as ordered
  • Maintains clean working environments ensuring guidelines for food handling are followed
  • Assists with the Food Service Assistant position as needed by serving food, cleaning/setting tables, washing dishes/pots/pans
  • Completes other assigned duties when not cooking/preparing food
  • Follows health regulations by the public health department

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Genuine interest in working with patients and food service as related to total patient care
  • Ability to read, write and follow written and oral directions
  • Ability to cooperate with supervisors, co-workers, and other departments
  • Ability to follow recipes and menus, especially related to therapeutic diets
  • Ability to work under pressure at peak periods
  • Willingness and cooperation in following instructions as given
  • Basic knowledge of quantity food preparation and cooking beneficial
  • Ability to estimate relative quantities of food, per written recipes
