Summary/Objective

The Reconstruction Estimator will conduct site inspections, gather information, sketch affected areas, and write accurate scope of work for necessary repairs. This position will inspect and discuss reconstruction processes to homeowners, insurance agents, mortgage companies, and technicians. The Reconstruction estimator will write estimates for the work needed, submit to insurance or property owner for approval, and work with Project Managers to address any supplements needed. They also work closely with Mitigation Project Managers to ensure seamless handoff of projects.

Essential Functions:

  • Drive to a from worksites and for business purposes
  • Conduct site inspections, communicate with customers, gather necessary info to write accurate scope of work.
  • Research the cost of items such as materials, transport, labor, and vendors to ensure a project is either approved by insurance company or is approved by owner both in scope and price
  • Follow up with insurance agents for approvals
  • Asses the risk levels associated with each project
  • Confer with supervisory personnel, owner, or contractors or to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, or construction problems.
  • Understand and navigate projects and their requirements
  • Understand and navigate project generating programs such as contractor connections
  • Adhere to guidelines and deadlines for project generating programs
  • Communicate respectfully and clearly with all parties involved in the project.
  • Review Xactimate generated estimates for completion and technical accuracy ensuring quality and integrity
  • Keep documentation organized and uploaded, this is to include photo documenting project progression.
  • Determine key variables forcost
  • Create and submit estimate reports or bids via appropriate systems
  • Implement salesmanship to try and sell the job.
  • Respond to all customer questions, concerns and document any changes of scope.
  • Follow up on all communication with (phone calls, meetings, emails)
  • Keep customers informed on the process of the estimating process (Fast responses and overcommunication are required)
  • Prepare contracts or negotiate revisions to contractual agreements with clients, suppliers, or contractors.
  • Develop or implement quality control programs.
  • Implement new or modified plans in response to delays, bad weather, or construction site emergencies.
  • Must inform supervisors immediately of all discontentment of customers
  • Analyze data to determine project feasibility.

Competencies:

  • Proven experience as a Construction Estimator or similar role
  • Insurance Disaster Restoration experience required, 3-5 years preferred
  • Xactimate estimating experience required
  • Strong knowledge of construction process, techniques, and materials
  • Proficient in blueprint or schematic reading and interpretation
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to follow company protocols
  • Ability to effectively communication with diverse stakeholders at all levels
