Job description

Goldberg Segalla is a national civil litigation law firm that represents major national and regional companies and insurance carriers in all aspects of business counseling, risk assessment and dispute resolution including representation in various types of claims, controversies and litigation involving personal and other injuries, property damage, contract disputes and business torts. While our Am Law 200 and Chambers ranked firm employs more than 1,000 people, we operate as one tight-knit and highly collaborative team. 
Goldberg Segalla has an immediate opportunity for a Workers' Compensation IME Paralegal in its Buffalo, Syracuse, or Albany office. 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Programs including Word, Outlook, TEAMS, Calendar, and Excel.  
  • Knowledge of Workers’ Compensation legal practice, legal terminology, medical and insurance claims terminology, and billing 
  • Electronic communication with clients for scheduling authority, recommendations and assistance with comprehensive cover letters to the IME consultants.
  • Coordination of IMEs (independent medical exams, record reviews, addendums and independent radiology).
  • Draft documents including but not limited to referrals, affirmations, correspondences accurately.
  • Respond to client inquiries timely and professionally.
  • Ensure compliance with Section 137.
  • Calendar cover letter deadlines.
  • Prepare medical records for IMEs.
  • Serve surveillance/diagnostic films and medical records for IMEs.
  • Provide vendors with cover letters and/or medical records.
  • Capture billable time in the firm’s iTimekeep system.
  • Assist with additional assignments and coverage for other IME paralegals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES & EXPERIENCE:    
  • Associate’s degree or higher, 2+ years in an administrative environment.
  • Clear communication in English.
  • Self-motivated, able to meet deadlines under pressure.

  • Observe and assess data/documents in print and on screens.
  • Available for special projects beyond normal hours.

This role offers a hourly salary and bonus opportunity. The hourly salary range for this position is $20.00 to $24.00. Actual pay may be adjusted based on experience and other job related factors permitted by law. This position also offers a full benefits package.
