Assignment Type: Long term contract

Pay: $20 – $23 / hour

Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:45 PM | 100% On-Site

Our client is a long-established nonprofit organization that provides community-based services throughout the Chicago area. The organization offers a collaborative, team-oriented environment where employees support one another and work together to keep day-to-day operations running smoothly.

 

Job Description:

Our client is seeking a dependable and professional Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for visitors, employees, vendors, and incoming callers. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys being the consistent presence at the front desk and takes pride in providing excellent service and keeping an office organized.

The Receptionist will primarily oversee front desk operations while also assisting with clerical and administrative projects as needed. The ideal candidate is reliable, patient, personable, and comfortable working with a variety of individuals throughout the day.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome visitors and guests in a friendly, professional manner while following established check-in and security procedures.
  • Answer and route incoming telephone calls to the appropriate departments or employees.
  • Monitor the front desk and maintain an organized, professional reception area.
  • Receive, sort, distribute, and prepare incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries.
  • Assist with basic correspondence, reports, documents, and other administrative materials.
  • Maintain internal directories, phone lists, schedules, visitor logs, and other office records.
  • Respond to routine questions and direct visitors or callers to the appropriate resources.
  • Provide clerical and administrative support to employees and leadership as requested.
  • Assist with occasional office projects and additional responsibilities during slower front desk periods.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality when interacting with employees, visitors, vendors, and community members.
  • Follow established office safety and security procedures.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous receptionist, front desk, office support, or administrative experience strongly preferred.
  • Must be dependable and able to consistently work the full on-site schedule.
  • Professional and polished communication skills with a customer-service-focused approach.
  • Comfortable interacting with a wide range of personalities while remaining patient and courteous.
  • Ability to balance front desk responsibilities with additional administrative assignments.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with Concur or similar expense-management software is a plus.
  • Additional college coursework, business training, or administrative education is preferred but not required.

 

Additional Details:

  • Expected start date is ASAP or within approximately two weeks.
  • Initial assignment is expected to last approximately 2–3 months with the potential to transition into a permanent position.
  • Interview process includes an initial virtual interview followed by an on-site interview.
  • This role reports directly to a senior-level administrative professional.
