The Contract Sales Representative will sell products and services offered by the company to new clientele. The Contract Sales Representative is responsible for increasing sales by developing relationships with prospective clients. Duties may include identifying prospective customers and following up on potential sales leads. Outside Sales Representatives may also recommend marketing strategies designed for a target market.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Establish contact with prospective and qualified potential buyers of new commercial fire sprinkler systems and associated equipment.

  • Determine customer needs by conducting site surveys and communicating effectively to educate the customer about the company's capabilities.

  • Create and conduct effective proposal presentations, identifying the customer's fire and life safety issues, the effects of the problems and solutions offered - expected to be involved in the production of accurate price quotations.

  • Develop and maintain an active proposal backlog to support the established sales plan.

  • Develop and maintain new and existing customer relationships that meet or exceed their expectations of a long-term partner.

  • Keep abreast of marketing opportunities through sales calls, networking, and other market related information.

  • Lead customer presentations, lunch and learns, and other relationship building meetings.

  • Builds and maintains a network of sources from which to identify new sales leads.
    Communicates with customers and leads to identify and understand their product or service needs; identifies and suggests products and services to meet those needs.
  • Maintains detailed reports of sales activities including calls, orders, sales and any customer relationship problems.
  • Provides periodic territory sales forecasts.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.

Education/Qualification:

  • High School Diploma required, college degree a plus.

  • 5+ years fire sprinkler sales/estimating experience.

  • Familiar with reading and understanding construction documents, including bid forms, plans, specifications, contracts, purchase orders and general agreements.

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent sales and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Willing to work together as a team with other departments.

  • Ability to analyze, assess and address customer needs.

  • Active listener with critical thinking and deductive reasoning skills.
