Job description

The Contract Sales Representative is responsible for maintaining relationships with customers. Individuals in this role identify new project opportunities, review plans and specifications, prepare bids and quotations, present bids and follow up to close and add work to committed backlog.  This individual will be responsible for the sourcing of the material and work required to execute the projects. And oversee scheduling and the billing for that work.  They promptly address and solve any problems that may arise on a project.

Essential Functions

  • Communicate with customers on a regular basis to check the progress of current jobs and pursue leads for new customers.
  • Cultivate customer relationships.
  • Secure construction plans and specifications on upcoming work in a timely fashion so that jobs may be taken off and bid.
  • Take-off material lists from plans and in construction specification interpretation to maximize bid potential.
  • Prepare & review all bids and quotations for accuracy before submission.
  •  Submits bids and quotations on a timely basis and in a fashion acceptable to the customer.
  •  Follow up on bid results and negotiate to capture jobs where necessary.
  • Maintain good vendor relationships and obtain competitive bids from vendors to maximize bid potential and gross margins earned.
  • Manage projects by proactive communication with customers, review of submittals, monitoring of vendor performance and coordination with warehouse / shipping activities.
  • Participate in physical inventories by counting or verifying assigned areas.
  • Identifies and solves problems, either customer-related matters or CBX Solutions internal issues that may involve their work.
  • Participate in regular sales meetings to assess market opportunities, report on potential and determine assignments Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and budget.
  • Develop a system to monitor and track job progress.
  • Manage and accurately document changes to project scope, schedule, and costs.
  • Diligently pursue change order acceptance and documentation thereof.
  • Report and escalate major issues to management as needed.
  • Successfully manage relationships with internal teams, customers, and all applicable stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties to the extent possible including but not limited to design teams, building engineers, property managers and code officials.
  • Delegate project tasks to appropriate resources.
  • Ensure quality control verification and enforcement.
  • Coordinate and attend site meetings as per customer schedule and requirements and / or circumstances to prevent and solve problems.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current and valid US driver’s license
  • At least 3 years experience with commercial doors and hardware

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products; some familiarity with industry specific software. Comsense, PRO-TECH, Avaware or similar.)
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
  • Knowledge of commercial door and hardware products and building code requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Must be detail oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
