Job description

The Revenue Assurance Analyst is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and resolving discrepancies within the billing and revenue ecosystem to prevent revenue leakage and ensure accuracy across all revenue streams. This role partners cross-functionally to safeguard financial integrity, optimize billing processes, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The analyst plays a key role in evaluating complex data, developing preventive controls, and ensuring accurate configuration of billing systems to maximize revenue capture within the telecommunications environment.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  1. Partner with cross-functional teams—including Marketing, Finance/Accounting, Operations, BI, Training, and Customer Care—to monitor campaigns, discounts, promotions, billing codes, and system configurations.
  2. Conduct daily monitoring and analysis of revenue streams using reports and available datasets to identify anomalies or gaps.
  3. Investigate discrepancies, analyze root causes, and recommend and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring issues.
  4. Monitor work order activity to confirm accurate coding for correct and timely billing across all products and services.
  5. Lead error resolution and recovery efforts, ensuring revenue is recaptured through system and code corrections.
  6. Collaborate with Contact Center, Launch, and operational teams to minimize transactions that negatively impact revenue.
  7. Conduct daily audits on projects, work orders, tasks, and system activities that influence billing accuracy.
  8. Maintain detailed records, prepare reports, and coordinate updates regarding billing changes, auditing results, and revenue assurance findings.
  9. Identify potential revenue risks or exposures and drive timely resolution with appropriate departments.
  10. Investigate, communicate, and resolve billing discrepancies by working closely with internal teams and external partners as needed.
  11. Prepare contract-related reports and managed care reports in accordance with business needs.
  12. Support billing teams by troubleshooting inquiries, providing guidance, and resolving escalated issues.
  13. Review, create, and audit bulk billing accounts and ensure all new accounts are correctly configured with ACH requirements.
  14. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • At least three years’ experience as a Data Analyst (4+ years for Senior Revenue Assurance Analyst)
  • Knowledge of cable/telecommunication products, services, and billing practices
  • Exceptional analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong understanding of contract processes and implementation
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Intermediate to advanced SQL and query writing capabilities
  • Intermediate to advanced Dashboarding (Power BI, Tableau) experience
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of industry billing applications – AMDOCS a plus (ICOMs or CSG)
  • Advanced level of Excel skills, VBA and other financial applications such as Access (Hyperion ESSBASE a plus)
  • Proficiency with data analysis methods, software, and advanced Excel skills
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project management abilities
