How does a contract remote sales professional typically collaborate with in-house teams and clients?

As a contract remote sales professional, effective collaboration is key to success. You will regularly communicate with in-house teams such as marketing, product, and customer support via video calls, emails, and collaboration platforms to align on goals, share client feedback, and stay updated on product offerings. Building strong virtual relationships with both colleagues and clients is essential, as you often act as the bridge between the customer and the company. What is a contract remote sales professional?

These roles typically focus on finding and closing sales leads, managing client relationships, and meeting sales targets, all without needing to go to a physical office. Contract remote sales professionals enjoy flexible schedules and the ability to work from anywhere, but do not usually receive traditional employee benefits like health insurance or paid time off. Compensation is often commission-based or a mix of base pay and commission, depending on the contract.

Position Title: Remote Sales Representative
Salary Range: $50,000-$65,000 base + uncapped commission
A growing B2B background screening company is seeking a dynamic, motivated Remote Sales Representative to drive business growth through proactive prospecting and exceptional customer engagement. This role will develop new client relationships, manage and expand existing accounts, conduct tailored product demonstrations, negotiate agreements, and grow the company's presence across new industries. The ideal candidate is a hungry, self-directed B2B sales professional with background screening industry experience, a proven record of exceeding quotas, and the patience and persistence required to manage a longer, relationship-driven sales cycle.
Remote Sales Representative Responsibilities:
  • Develop new business through cold calling, prospecting, lead generation, networking, and direct sales outreach
  • Sell background screening and verification services to employers, property managers, nonprofit organizations, schools, churches, summer camps, and other high-volume organizations
  • Pursue new business opportunities nationwide without the limitations of an assigned sales territory
  • Manage existing accounts with a focus on customer service, retention, upselling, and long-term relationship development
  • Conduct engaging product demonstrations that highlight features, benefits, and solutions tailored to each client's needs
  • Create and execute strategic business development plans to increase market share and expand into targeted industries
  • Maintain accurate sales activities, customer information, pipeline progress, and account records in Salesforce
  • Analyze sales activity and pipeline data to identify opportunities and improve performance
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and service agreements that align with company objectives and client expectations
  • Collaborate with the marketing team on campaigns that generate leads and increase brand awareness
  • Maintain consistent, patient, and persistent follow-up throughout a longer sales cycle
  • Consistently meet or exceed revenue targets, sales quotas, and performance goals

Remote Sales Representative Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-3 years of sales experience with a strong emphasis on cold calling and new business development
  • Previous experience within the background screening industry
  • Proven success in B2B, outside sales, business development, or account management
  • Experience selling complex products or services
  • Demonstrated ability to grow accounts and meet or exceed sales quotas
  • Experience with lead generation, direct sales, and proactive prospecting
  • Experience delivering engaging product or service demonstrations
  • Proficiency with Salesforce or another CRM platform
  • Strong relationship-building, communication, presentation, customer service, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to build rapport and work effectively with a wide range of personalities
  • Self-motivated, energetic, persistent, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage a longer, relationship-driven sales cycle
  • Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with a commitment to exceptional customer service
  • Understanding of the importance of protecting clients through accurate and compliant background screening
  • Ability to work remotely from anywhere in the United States during required Central Time business hours
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Central Time

Benefits:
  • Competitive base salary of $50,000-$65,000, depending on experience
  • Uncapped commission, including 10% commission on first-year orders
  • Eligibility for a year-end bonus
  • Fully remote work from anywhere in the United States
  • Medical insurance through UnitedHealthcare
  • Employer contribution of $300 per month toward medical coverage
  • Dental, vision, and life insurance
  • Benefits eligibility after 90 days of employment
  • 401(k) plan with a company match of up to 3%
  • Paid time off
  • Nine paid company holidays
  • Annual performance reviews and opportunities for salary increases
