Job description

Charles River Analytics, a GRVTY company, creates solutions and technology to tackle the world's most challenging problems. Our team of technological entrepreneurs works together to push at the forefront of enhanced AI, robotics, smart sensing, and human-centered computing. The resulting research and development help to continuously advance government programs and discover new possibilities in the commercial marketplace. At Charles River, we take great pride in our success at attracting and retaining the most talented and creative problem-solvers in our field. Now as part of GRVTY, we offer the same trusted capabilities with increased organizational depth and expanded capacity across mission-critical national security domains. Are you ready to accelerate our mission-focused innovations? We'd love to hear from you!
We are looking for a Simulation Analyst to work on-site with a client on a high-impact defense innovation project. In this role, you will serve as a technical simulation expert responsible for configuring, adapting, troubleshooting, and enhancing advanced military simulation capabilities. Your work will directly support the client's wargaming, experimentation, analysis, training, and operational decision-making activities.

As a liaison between the customer's mission and analysis needs and the simulation system's configuration and model behavior, you will help customers translate operational questions into executable simulation scenarios. Additionally, you will extend or modify simulation models and scenario configurations as needed, identify performance or fidelity issues, and gather actionable feedback on the product. Are you interested in answering this challenge and driving simulation innovations forward? We'd love to hear from you if so!

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field; graduate-level degree preferred
  • Over 5 years of experience in simulation, preferably for military applications
  • Proficient in configuring and operating complex military simulations, with a solid understanding of scenario design, entity behavior, force representation, terrain/environment effects, and simulation run control
  • Experience in building repeatable scenarios, managing configuration baselines, creating scenario variants, and documenting changes effectively
  • Ability to diagnose model behavior, identify data issues, troubleshoot run-time failures, resolve integration problems, and address performance bottlenecks
  • Practical experience with scripting, data files, configuration management, version control, issue tracking, logs, telemetry, and reproducible defect reporting
  • Capable of collaborating with operators, analysts, planners, trainers, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to clarify mission context and translate operational language into technical requirements
  • Experienced in documenting assumptions, limitations, data pedigree, measures, uncertainties, and risks related to interpretation
  • Skilled in converting field observations into clear bug reports, feature requests, acceptance criteria, and roadmap recommendations
  • Able to operate in a military customer environment, adhering to classification and data-handling rules while maintaining customer trust
  • Possess active or eligible security clearance, as required by contract

We prefer to see:

  • Experience in military wargaming, campaign analysis, mission-level simulation, constructive simulation, or agent-based simulation
  • Knowledge of verification, validation, and accreditation (VV&A), model validation, data pedigree, or documentation for analysis credibility
  • Proficiency in scripting or programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, C#, Lua, SQL, or other domain-specific configuration languages
  • Experience with simulation interoperability or distributed simulation concepts, including High-Level Architecture (HLA), Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS), Test and Evaluation Collaboration Environment (TENA), or equivalent proprietary architectures
  • Familiarity with military operations, joint/coalition planning, force structure, command and control, weapons and sensors, logistics, or mission analysis

Salary Range

$140,000 - $225,000

The above salary range is an estimate based on the internal job level(s) for which this role is being considered. The final salary will be decided after careful evaluation of the individual's work experience, education, and overall qualifications. This range does not include the substantial total rewards, as listed below, that you will also be eligible for as an employee at Charles River Analytics.

Why Charles River?
Charles River Analytics thrives on collaboration and values each team member. We offer competitive compensation plus bonus and retirement contribution, with an attractive benefits package including 100% employer-paid medical and dental insurance, as well as vision, life, and disability insurance, paid maternity/paternity leave, tuition reimbursement, monthly gym allowance, free parking, generous paid time off, and a casual environment. We offer tremendous flexibility and value work-life balance. We are also accessible by public transportation. Charles River became an employee-owned company in 2012, to set the stage for the next-generation of innovation, service, and growth in R&D. As we entered 2026, we joined forces with GRVTY, gaining the scale and capacity to transition, field, and sustain our innovations faster and more effectively than ever before.
