The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics LLC (CAO) is one of the nation’s largest Orthopaedics practices, owned and operated by physicians, with over 60 locations across Maryland, Northern Virginia, and the District of Columbia. With approximately 2,000 employees, working in 28 Divisions, CAO is a growing business with revenues of approximately $250 Million. CAO is committed to be the Orthopaedics provider of choice for our patients; partner of choice for payors and health systems; and employer of choice by attracting and retaining a talented workforce.
The Southern Maryland Division of The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics is seeking a new member for the group. Currently, the division has 6 surgeons, 1 interventional pain physician, 6 Physician Assistants, and 2 nurse practitioners. The practice is looking to expand due to need for additional surgeons to accommodate high clinic and surgical volume. Partner retirement also presents an immediate need. New surgeons can expect to be busy quickly.
Practice location is in a bedroom community approximately 1 hour from Annapolis and Washington DC. Capture area is approximately 400,000, with average income in the county $88,000. Community is between Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay, with numerous waterfront homes and ample opportunities for boating and water sports.
Initial contract includes starting salary with production bonus, medical and dental coverage, and paid vacation. Agreement for paid call at one hospital, a non-designated trauma center, with minimal trauma. After achieving partnership, applicants will enjoy significant ancillary revenue streams, including imaging, DME, and 3 PT offices, as well as opportunity for ownership in an MSO. Option for ownership in ASC and real estate is also available through separate businesses.
CAO is the second largest orthopedic group in the United States, comprised of 28 divisions and over 180 orthopedic surgeon partners operating in Maryland, Washington DC, and Virginia.
Preference for Sports Medicine, Spine, or Total Joint Specialties.
Primary Responsibilities
The incumbent may be asked to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically stated in this description. The duties and responsibilities of the position are to be carried out in a manner that is consistent with the Mission, Core Values and Operating Principles of CAO.
•Maintains historical patient records by documenting symptoms, medications, treatment events and writing summaries.
•Uses specialized equipment, including blood tests to determine the extent of a fracture, illness, or injury.
•Prescribes course of treatment for patients with injuries, disorders, or malformations and performs required surgery.
•Conducts medical research on new injuries or diseases and conducts, supervises, and participates in medical education and training of other medical personnel.
•Conducts and supervises direct patient care, including non-surgical treatment options.
•Plans and executes disease prevention and health promotion programs.
•Maintains CME units based on the requirement of the specifying Board.
•Uses excellent communication skills to consult and educate patients, their families, and other medical professionals regarding treatments, medications, and surgical procedures.
•Offers preoperative, intra-operative, and postoperative care, including the administration of medication and anesthesia.
•Represents the practice and CAO at professional conferences and in joint medical committees.
•Reviews patient progress and reports relevant information to patients, other physicians, and medical personnel.
•Ensures consistent compliance with all regulatory and CAO guidelines, policies, and procedures.
•Performs other duties as assigned.
Reporting Relationships
The Physician reports directly to the Lead Physician at the assigned Practice and clinic.
This role does not currently have direct reports.
Required Education and Experience
•Licensed and board-certified MD in assigned state(s).
•4+ years’ internship and residency training, specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation.
•BLS Certification required.
•Must maintain CEU's in pertinent clinical practice according to licensure requirements.
•Experience and proficiency working with computers, medical coding, and electronic medical records.
