Job description

Contract Manager II | Louisville, Kentucky, United States An experienced and detail oriented Contract Specialist is needed to support contract development, negotiation, and administration for capital and operational projects within the utility industry (Louisville , KY). This role requires strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to assess and mitigate contractual and business risks. The Contract Specialist will play a key role in enabling the organization to meet its capital spending objectives.
Callouts:
- This role is currently on a hybrid schedule ( tues-thurs on site ) in the Broadway Office Complex, KY but has the potential to eventually change to fully in office. There is no timeline as to when this could possibly occur.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Drafting, Review & Redlining
• Prepare, review, and revise contract documents, including nondisclosure agreements (NDAs), master service agreements (MSAs), engineering and consulting agreements, construction contracts, and related commercial documents.
• Ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with internal standards.
Negotiation of Terms and Conditions
• Negotiate commercial terms and conditions to ensure alignment with internal policies, risk management practices, and utility industry requirements.
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve contract issues efficiently.
Internal Approvals & Compliance
• Complete required documentation to route contracts for approval in accordance with established authority limits.
• Ensure all contracts meet legal, regulatory, and procedural standards.
Systems
• Utilize Oracle and other authorized systems to maintain contracts
Risk Assessment
• Evaluate contractual and business risks and recommend strategies to mitigate exposure.
• Provide clear guidance on risks related to commercial terms, scope changes, and vendor obligations.
Internal Stakeholder Collaboration
• Work closely with engineering, supply chain, project management, legal, and other internal teams to support contract execution aligned with project timelines.
• Maintain professional communication and deliver timely, solutions oriented support.
Special Projects
• Support special assignments, process improvements, or project specific initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
Required
• Bachelor's degree preferred in science, business, engineering, law, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience drafting, negotiating, interpreting, and managing contracts.
• Strong risk assessment skills and ability to manage complex contractual language.
• High attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
• Strong problem solving abilities and sound judgment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple teams.
• Willingness to travel occasionally based on business needs.
