Job description

URC Haiti ESS+ project conducts Third Party Monitoring, Evaluations, Assessments and Studies on behalf of the US Department of State in Haiti and the region. The project also generates quarterly and annual reports on its activities. Haiti ESS+ seeks professional copy-editing services to ensure the final reports meets high standards of clarity, accuracy, and presentation. The reports generally comprise approximately 30-50 pages, including narrative text, tables, charts, and data graphics.
The Consultant will be responsible for the following:
  • Review and correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, syntax, and sentence structure.
  • Ensure clarity, conciseness, and consistency of tone and style throughout the report.
  • Apply the designated style guide, font and formatting.
  • Maintain the author’s intended meaning and technical accuracy.
Technical and Content Consistency
  • Verify consistency in the use of terminology, acronyms, and data references.
  • Cross-check all data points, tables, and figures against the original data collection reports.

  • Ensure captions, titles, and figure references accurately reflect the accompanying visuals.
  • Ensure the report refers to and conforms to contract and DoS formatting and clauses and regulations that may be applicable.

  • Ensure that units of measurement, legends, and labels are correctly presented.
  • Provide or suggest improvements to visual presentation to enhance readability and comprehension.
  • Verify alignment between visual data and textual analysis.
Formatting and Layout
  • Apply consistent formatting to headings, subheadings, lists, tables, and references.
  • Ensure proper numbering and referencing of figures, tables, and annexes.
  • Standardize fonts, spacing, and overall presentation in line with organizational templates.
  • Conduct a final proofreading review after layout or graphic design is completed.
  • Check for typographical, formatting, and layout errors prior to publication.
  • Deliver a final, publication-ready version of the report.
Minium Qualifications
  • Fluency in English and French at a professional reading and writing level.
  • Graduate degree from US-affiliated university in development studies, communications, journalism or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar capacity, preferably in the international development domain.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality products within short timeframe.
