General Cardiologist (Heart Failure) - VA Healthcare System

Location: Orlando, FL
Employment Type: Independent Contractor
Compensation: $200 - $250/hr
Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday, standard clinic hours

Position Overview

CLFC Healthcare & Communications is seeking a Board Certified General Cardiologist with Heart Failure training for the Orlando VA Healthcare System (OVAHCS). This full-time position supports the cardiology department at VISN 8, providing comprehensive cardiac care including echocardiography interpretation, heart failure management, and general cardiology consultations for the veteran patient population in Central Florida. This is a long-term, 5-year contract opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive general cardiology consultations for inpatient and outpatient veteran patients
  • Manage complex heart failure patients including medication optimization, device management, and advanced therapies assessment
  • Perform and interpret echocardiographic studies (transthoracic and transesophageal)
  • Conduct cardiac risk assessments and pre-operative cardiac evaluations
  • Collaborate with interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, cardiac surgery, and primary care teams
  • Document clinical encounters, consultations, and procedure reports in the VA electronic health record
  • Participate in heart failure multidisciplinary team meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and peer review

Required Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school
  • Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM)
  • Echo Board Certification (National Board of Echocardiography)
  • Cardiology fellowship training with heart failure clinical experience
  • Minimum 3 years of post-fellowship clinical experience in General Cardiology
  • Active, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent resident authorization to work in a VA facility

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology fellowship training
  • Board Certified in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology by ABIM
  • Prior VA or federal healthcare facility experience
  • Experience with cardiac device management (pacemakers, ICDs, CRT)
  • Familiarity with VA CPRS or Cerner Millennium electronic health record system

Compensation and Benefits
