Position Overview
The City of Henderson announces an examination to create a consideration for hire list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Fire Department Media Content Assistant (Part Time) in the Fire Department. The consideration for hire list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year.
Under general supervision, performs various social media, marketing, and communications-related tasks in support of the Henderson Fire Department; and performs related duties as assigned.
Specific duties will include, but are not limited to:
  • Creating engaging social media content to be published on the City's various profiles and platforms.
  • Staffing various programs and events to capture high-quality photo and video footage. Capturing B-roll footage to enhance the visual storytelling of videos.
  • Planning, editing, and creating engaging high-quality video content for web and social platforms including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
  • Participating in brainstorming sessions and contributing fresh ideas for campaign themes and content.
  • Performing a variety of support duties including organizing and storing digital assets.
  • Ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, the ability to connect with a diverse audience, self-driven, energetic, adept to a fast-paced environment, and accomplishing multiple tasks.

VACANCY INFORMATION:
  • This is a part-time, non-PERS eligible position.
  • This position does not qualify for employer-paid benefits, paid time off, wage increases, or union representation.
  • This position requires enrollment in the City's Alternate Retirement Systems (ARS).
  • Work schedule will consist of an average of 19 hours/week. Hours per week may increase or decrease based on Department need.
  • May be required to work a flexible work schedule, outside of normal business hours, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or extended hours.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduation from high school, or the equivalent
  • Six (6) months experience in social media, public outreach, community involvement, communications, or closely related experience
  • Note: An equivalent combination of related training and experience may be considered
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or "border state" driver's license as defined by NRS 483
  • Desirable: Experience in fire services, emergency services, or law enforcement
  • Desirable: Six (6) months experience in video editing and production
