Job description

A leading single-source electrical contractor with over 50 years of experience is seeking a Project Accountant to join its growing team in Edison, New Jersey. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in construction accounting who is looking to take on a key role within a supportive and established team.

This company is a subsidiary of a Fortune 500 leader in mechanical and electrical construction, offering the stability and resources of a large corporation while maintaining a close-knit, collaborative work environment. You will be part of a team of three other accountants in their office, working directly with project managers and upper management to ensure the financial success of projects.

What You'll Do:

As a Project Accountant, you will be responsible for a variety of critical tasks, including:

  • Administering and preparing monthly requisitions and payment applications.
  • Managing invoices, change orders, and collections with clients and customers.
  • Producing cash management and forecast reports for senior leadership.
  • Analyzing job costs and project profit/loss.
  • Reviewing and preparing essential documents, such as certified payroll, insurance, and tax certificates.
  • Collaborating with project managers on billing, change orders, and project closeouts.

Who We're Looking For:

  • A minimum of 3+ years of project accounting experience within the construction industry is required.
  • Experience with construction ERP software is preferred; knowledge of Viewpoint by Vista is a plus, but familiarity with systems like Sage or ProCore is also valuable.
