Job description

Job Title: Project Accountant

Salary: Based on experience and will be discussed with manager in interview
Accura Engineering is seeking a Project Accountant with AEC accounting experience. This candidate will be responsible for project financials as well as other duties in a growing engineering and consulting firm.
Responsibilities/Duties:
  • Review owner contracts to understand accounting requirements.
  • Assist multiple Project Managers in creating owner billings
  • Support Project Support Project Managers with accounting queries and assist in job cost reconciliation
  • Responsible for ensuring all assigned projects are properly set up and maintained in the Company's accounting system, and expenses are correctly recorded to the project
  • Review and prepare documents for timely payment of vendor and subcontractor invoices
  • Maintain construction job set-up paperwork and budgets in the Procas accounting system
  • Ensure accuracy, proper coding, and approval of invoices for assigned projects
  • Manage all subcontractor requirements including insurance and Lien Releases
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for multiple accounts
  • Prepare monthly accruals, amortization and various other accounting analyses and entries
  • Communicate with various team members clearly and professionally, including the Owners, Project Management Team, Managers, the Accounting Team, Engineers, and other Business Partners
  • Support ad-hoc reporting and special projects
  • Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Assisting with project audits
  • Audit project setup and ensure billing matches contract type in the accounting system
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience/Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar field
  • 3 to 5 years of financial and accounting related work experience, including client invoicing, project billing, accounts receivable, and project financial management, preferably in AEC (Architecture, Engineering or Construction) industry
  • Knowledge of contract types such as CPFF, T amp;M, and FFP
  • Experience with GDOT, MARTA, COA, Airport, and Federal projects is a huge plus
  • Experience preparing and processing client invoices, monitoring billing cycles, and resolving invoicing discrepancies.
  • A/R collections experience, preferably with knowledge of the Procas system
  • Advance Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Exceptional communication and analytical skills.
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work, handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
