About the Company
Hyperion Group ("Hyperion") is a vertically integrated investor, developer and operator of residential and mixed-use real estate with projects in South Florida and New York. The firm is growing rapidly and has several ground-up residential mixed-use projects in various stages of development and management. We are seeking an experienced Project Accountant/Controller to provide hands on management and leadership of the accounting and finance aspects of the firm.
Position Overview
Hyperion is seeking an experienced project accountant/Controller to assume the following responsibilities for the Company and its projects.
โ€ข Manage the accounting system (Sage Intacct), providing procedures and systems necessary to maintain proper records and to afford adequate accounting controls and services.
โ€ข Prepare and submit monthly draws to lenders and/or funding requests to capital partners, ensuring the underlying requests are within budget, accurate and consistent with the underlying loan and operating agreements for the lenders and capital partners.
โ€ข Budgetary and cost control for the projects, including job cost reporting and ensuring proper coding of invoices in the accounting system.
โ€ข Review monthly payment applications from the general contractor, confirming lien releases, deposits/stored materials and other items are in compliance with the applicable loan agreements.
โ€ข Review and manage consulting contracts and invoices within and outside of the accounting system, ensuring approvals are obtained from management and the project teams.
โ€ข Manage the accounts payable process, including a review of all disbursements for the entities within the Company to ensure they are accurate, adequately approved and funded prior to presenting to CEO for signature and release.
โ€ข Supervise the cash management and treasury functions for the Company and its projects.
โ€ข Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
โ€ข Financial statement preparation for multiple entities, including consolidated statements for various joint ventures.
โ€ข Prepare monthly/quarterly investor reports and other and ad hoc reporting to lenders and capital partners.
โ€ข Annual tax return filings in coordination with an external CPA firm.
โ€ข Liaise with the external auditors for the annual financial statement audits.
โ€ข Manage the key company and project documents and the related document control processes.
โ€ข Ensure all capital transactions, fundings and other intercompany transactions are properly accounted for on the books of all entities.
โ€ข Responsible for obtaining and renewing insurance policies for corporate and project level coverage.
Qualifications
โ€ข Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from an accredited College or University in Business, Finance, Accounting, Real Estate or related field. Master's or MBA degree desirable.
โ€ข CPA desirable.
โ€ข Ideally 7-10 years of related experience with a commercial or residential real estate development, asset management or construction company.
โ€ข Strong computer knowledge and skills including an in-depth expert knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
โ€ข Ability to handle multiple projects and assignments; able to prioritize and meet deadlines.
โ€ข Demonstrated work ethic
โ€ข Able to work independently with minimal supervision, while proactive in engaging team executives and providing controls.
