Phillips Tank & Structure (PTS) is no ordinary tank construction company. We specialize in the complex and fast-paced environment of tank repair on a nationwide scale. No two tanks are alike, so when they need repair, they often pose unique or complicated technical issues. Our experienced engineering staff are well-versed in API 650, API 653, AWWA D100, AWWA D103, API 12D, and other tank specifications.
We build and repair welded above-ground storage tanks (ASTs), bolted tanks, and related structures. We also inspect, install, and repair tank systems such as aluminum geodesic dome covers, aluminum internal floating roofs (IFRs), IFR mechanical shoe seals, liquid level gauges, fire protection systems, silo support structures, industrial storage tanks, and heating and insulation systems.
About This Position:
We are seeking a skilled Construction Planner/Coordinator to support project planning, construction logistics, and field operations across multiple industrial construction projects. In this role, you will coordinate tooling and equipment, assist with pre-construction planning, support project scheduling, and ensure smooth communication between project managers, field crews, and procurement teams. This position is ideal for someone who is interested in construction project coordination, logistics management, and jobsite support.
  • This position is an entry to mid-level position offering the individual excellent growth and learning opportunities.
  • The Construction Planner is the office-based partner for the site-based Construction Manager. The Construction Planner is responsible for enhancing communication for the Construction Group. This position will provide the employee with exposure and experience in numerous aspects of construction management including scheduling, logistics, safety, and quality control.
  • General Duties: Plan, coordinate, select, assign, and dispatch the best-available manpower, tooling, and equipment necessary to successfully execute the project. Develop specialized knowledge, systems, and support in construction means, methods, tooling, and equipment; Welding and non-destructive examination (NDE) processes and procedures. Construction Planners are to handle the compliance aspects of safety and quality control for the field construction operations.
  • In addition to the primary construction coordination and planning responsibilities, this position will assist with general groundskeeping, help organize and coordinate the tool house, and take on other duties as assigned to support the team and maintain a safe, well-functioning work environment.
  • The role requires a high level of collaboration across teams, as well as strong self-management skills and the ability to proactively initiate and complete tasks.

In general, CPs will learn to:
  • Administer and coordinate the company's Safety and Quality policies to ensure that the field construction operation is provided with the necessary tools and support to execute the field construction work with excellent safety and quality performance.
  • Plan, select, assign, and dispatch the best-available tooling, and equipment necessary to successfully execute the project.
  • Assist the Construction Group in necessary manpower moves.
  • Take a leadership role in driving continuous improvement of the regional construction operation where the CP is assigned.
  • Develop specialized knowledge, systems, and support in the following areas.
    1. Construction means, methods, tooling, and equipment.
    2. Construction Planner training, and development.
    3. Shipping methods and execution.

Requirements and Skills:
  • Interest in construction equipment and practices.
  • Proficient in digital word processing and spreadsheet applications (i.e., MS Office or Google Docs and Google Sheets).
