Overview:

The Operations Manager will oversee construction projects by acting as a liaison between the Retro project management team and field staff, as well as the customers project staff. Key responsibilities include maintaining project budgets, controlling costs, and mitigating financial risks. The role also involves managing schedules, coordinating scope of work, and ensuring subcontractor obligations are met according to contract requirements, project specifications, and Retro standards. The Operations Manager will ensure customer satisfaction and effective communication between field staff and the project management team. Additionally, insulation services may be performed as required.


Responsibilities:

  • Identify project requirements, expectations, and scope of work. Develop and maintain project schedules while ensuring compliance with requirements and budget constraints.
  • Support project managers by providing foremen with necessary documentation, including submittals, safety documents, project expectations, quality control measures, and contractual obligations.
  • Support project team by ensuring insulators have the right tools to perform their job safely.
  • Assist project managers in reviewing and tracking project expenses including monthly billings and communicating with foreman project financial milestones.
  • Facilitate job setup, initial customer engagement, and coordination among RA Holdings staff, including Assistant Project Managers, Estimating, Contract Administration, and accounting teams.
  • Support the project management team in scheduling and tracking timekeeping for projects.
  • Mentor and coach insulators in leadership and mechanical skills, ensuring field morale and skill development at all levels.
  • Assist in sourcing and managing necessary materials and equipment for project execution.


Job Requirements & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED, college degree preferred but not required.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in construction supervision, with a focus on commercial mechanical/HVAC insulation project preferred not required.
  • Oversee and manage all on-site activities for commercial mechanical and HVAC insulation projects to ensure timely and budget-compliant completion.
  • Supervise and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and laborers, ensuring work aligns with project specifications and safety standards.
  • Read and interpret plumbing and mechanical drawings, blueprints, and insulation specifications to ensure proper execution of HVAC insulation work.
  • Proficiency in speaking/communicating with Spanish workforce (preferred, but not required)
  • Monitor project schedules, track progress, and proactively address potential delays or issues.
  • Enforce site safety policies, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety protocols.
  • Conduct regular quality control inspections of insulation materials, application techniques, and adherence to industry best practices.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and clients regarding project progress, challenges, and necessary adjustments.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs, site reports, and project documentation, including material usage and labor hours.
  • Coordinate material deliveries and manage inventory of HVAC insulation supplies on-site.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve installation challenges, ensuring project efficiency and adherence to contract requirements.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical insulation materials, applications, and industry standards (e.g., fiberglass, elastomeric, mineral wool, cellular glass).
  • Knowledge of construction safety regulations, including OSHA standards and codes requirements
  • Experience using construction management software and scheduling tools (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid, Microsoft Project).
  • OSHA 30-hour certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • CPR/First Aid (or willingness to obtain)
