Job description

LHH is partnering with our manufacturing and construction client who is seeking a highly driven Assistant Controller to add to their growing team. This position will assist the Controller with the financial affairs of the organization including preparation of financial statements and audit support along with providing business management tools and reports for managers throughout the company. Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for managing a substantial portion of the month-end close checklist as well as prepares and maintains reconciled audit schedules month-to-month to ensure year-round audit readiness
  • Perform balance sheet, income statement and cash flow account analysis each month
  • Prepare annual property tax returns, 1099s, sales tax returns, fuel taxes and other reports required by regulatory agencies
  • Direct experience with system implementations, data migration, or system testing highly preferred.
  • Clear communication on project status, availability, and scheduling priorities to ensure key deliverables are completed without disruption
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing process, account analysis and reconciliations ensuring consistency with generally accepted accounting principles
  • High comfort level with complex, non-routine tasks; willing to dig into documentation and solve ambiguous problems without needing step-by-step guidance or delegating around management.
  • Sense of urgency and reliability around critical deadlines, audits, insurance reviews, and close targets.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CMA REQUIRED
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, construction industry experience preferred
  • Conceptual understanding of US GAAP
  • Ability to work cross functionally
  • Possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with IFS ERP (or similar enterprise ERP environments) and advanced Excel proficiency (experience with all of these systems is not required to apply).
  • Positive attitude and an eagerness to exceed expectations
