Job description

Amentum Advanced Solutions (AS) is a performance unit of Amentum Engineering & Technology Line of Business. Advanced Solutions specializes in the development, design, construction, and operation of unique and complex research & development, scientific, and test facilities, including wind tunnels (aerospace, DoD, automotive, motorsports, etc.), rocket test stands, climatic chambers, jet engine test cells, acoustic chambers, altitude test facilities, captive trajectory systems, and nuclear facilities. AS projects span the automotive, motorsports, defense, nuclear, and aerospace markets. Recent clients include Audi, Boeing, BMW, Volkswagen, Fiat Chrysler, Ford, Honda, General Motors, NASA, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Department of Energy, and many others across North America, Europe, and Asia.
AS is looking for a candidate that will be recognized as a leader within the company and requires in-depth and/or breath of expertise in own job discipline and broad knowledge of other job disciplines within the organization function.
BS degree from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of ten (10) years of engineering experience with at least five (5) years in project management, or a MS degree from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of nine (9) years of engineering experience with at least five (5) years in project management experience or a PHD degree from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of seven (7) years of engineering experience with at least five (5) years in project management experience. Demonstrated performance on project management assignments of increasing responsibility including leading moderate size and complexity projects.
Role will require working with multiple disciplines of engineering to design, build, startup and turnover test facility focused projects. Our engineering directorate includes aerospace, thermal physics, process, machine design, structural, controls and instrumentation, electrical and software sections. Projects can be both Commercial and Government related. Expectation is that the project manager can bid and win work, manage the customer and the design staff, execute the procurement, work with our field services branch to construct the deliverable, manage the checkout, startup, commissioning and acceptance of the facility.
Demonstrated competence in project management and technical competence is discipline field(s) and knowledge of company policies and practices.
Demonstrated leadership ability and good communication skills are required. Good strategic thinker, able to identify and manage risks and opportunities, and work within our business management system. US citizenship is preferred; experience working in a US Government Classified environment is beneficial.
Leads technically challenging engineering and construction projects, potentially fifteen million dollars ($15,000,000) in design build cost or 30,000 hours of professional services or larger. Leads a team in the accomplishment of work on projects of moderate to large size and in the development of all required documentation/deliverables within budget and schedule constraints. Controls project work accomplishment versus scope of services contracted, assesses progress versus schedule. Resolves conflicts or elevates conflicts to management level necessary for resolution.
Most projects fall in the automotive, aerospace, or scientific market spaces, particularly in terms of advanced testing facilities. Example facilities include wind tunnels, engine test facilities, rocket test stands, climatic simulation facilities, etc. Engineering/design work typically performed in offices in Tullahoma, TN or Bingham Farms, MI while construction and commissioning work is most often at a client's site in the continental US with some work in international locations such as the UK, Germany, Japan, etc. Nearly every design is for a unique, one-of-a-kind engineered solution.

Function of Position
Responsible for managing project of large size and complexity, or multiple smaller projects. Assist more senior managers in marketing and managing large and complex projects or group of projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
Serves as a point of contact for development and discussion of new business opportunities and, subsequently, project objectives, scope, and budgets within the company and between the company and the client.
Operates typically with broad latitude in a complex environment, leads multidisciplinary project team to achieve milestones and objectives.
Leads a team in the accomplishment of work on projects of large size and in the development of all required documentation/deliverables within budget and schedule constraints.
Controls project work accomplishment vs. scope of services contracted, assesses progress vs. schedule and budget; resolves conflicts or elevates conflicts to management level necessary for resolution.
Assists more senior project managers in the development and management of large and complex projects; may lead a portion of the project.
Evaluates performance of project team members.
Performs other related duties as required

Compensation Details:
$154,900 - $194,915
