Date of Posting: July 1, 2026 Concert Choir Director Title: Concert Choir Director Units: 6Location: Marple Newtown High SchoolNumber of Positions: 1 Job Description: Concert Choir is a club that is dedicated to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all students at Marple Newtown and offers the students a multitude of activities as well as an opportunity to socialize and make lasting friendships.Effective: 2026-2027 School YearQualifications:Experience: Experience working with school age students and coordinating and managing events.Skills: Strong managerial, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work with students of all ability levels.Education: Valid PA teaching certificate.Essential Functions: A faculty advisor acts as a liaison between the school administration and the club, providing guidance to student leaders and members.Advisors work with student leaders to plan events and create opportunities for inclusion.Advisors work with program staff to communicate information, and support and build lasting relationships.Advisors will supervise all club-related events and meetings.Plan, organize, and direct all aspects of the high school concert choir program, including selecting appropriate choral repertoire, leading rehearsals outside the school day, and preparing students for performances.Provide vocal and ensemble instruction that develops students' musicianship, including vocal technique, sight-reading, diction, and performance skills, while fostering a positive and inclusive rehearsal environment.Conduct and supervise choir performances at school concerts, community events, and district functions; coordinate logistics such as scheduling, accompanists, and communication with students and families.Collaborate with school and district staff to support the overall music program, including coordinating with other music directors, managing music library resources, and ensuring compliance with district policies and procedures.Has read and understands obligations as outlined in MNSD School Board Policies.Other duties as assigned by Administration.
