Job description

Job Summary:
As a Product Manager in Card Authorizations, you combine deep technical expertise with product management excellence to drive strategic initiatives and optimize authorization systems. You will manage and prioritize product backlogs, lead agile teams, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver high-value features and technical improvements. Your leadership will ensure seamless delivery, system modernization, and compliance with regulatory and fraud prevention standards.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute the product roadmap for card authorization systems, aligning with business objectives and regulatory requirements
  • Manage and prioritize product backlogs, ensuring optimal delivery of high-value features and technical improvements
  • Maintain backlog health through continuous refinement, story grooming, and stakeholder alignment
  • Lead cross-functional agile teams using Scrum and Kanban methodologies to deliver system enhancements
  • Facilitate sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives, and other agile ceremonies
  • Manage team capacity, velocity tracking, and delivery commitments using Jira and other project management tools
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, technology teams, risk management, and compliance organizations
  • Oversee technical architecture decisions for authorization systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance
  • Drive system conversions and migrations, supporting new co-brand partnerships and platform modernization
  • Ensure authorization systems meet fraud prevention requirements and regulatory compliance standards
  • Communicate product status, roadmaps, and strategic initiatives to executive leadership and key stakeholders

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Proven product experience as a Technical Product Systems Analyst at a major financial institution (e.g., Citi, Wells Fargo, Capital One)
  • Extensive knowledge of technical platforms (TSYS/C3) with hands-on system configuration and optimization experience
  • Demonstrated experience with system conversions and migrations for co-brand partner initiatives
  • Deep expertise in credit card authorization processes, payment flows, and transaction lifecycle management
  • In-depth fraud risk background with understanding of real-time risk decisioning and fraud prevention strategies
  • Proven experience as a Business Architect or similar role, translating business requirements into technical solutions
  • Strong understanding of business processes, systems architecture, and technology integration patterns
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for complex technical and business challenges
  • Outstanding communication skills for engaging stakeholders at all levels
  • Expertise in agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, scaled agile frameworks)
  • Advanced proficiency in Jira for backlog management, sprint planning, and project tracking

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in technical product management or systems analysis within financial services
  • Professional certifications in Agile/Scrum methodologies (CSM, CSPO, SAFe, etc.)
  • Experience with payment industry standards (ISO 8583, EMV, PCI DSS)
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms and modern software development practices
  • Previous experience managing large-scale system migrations or platform conversions
