As a Wall Assembler at Carter Components Lansing, MI your job duties and responsibilities are as follows:

  • Arrive to work ready to perform your duties.  Dressed appropriately w/ PPE, all tools accounted for, stretched, positive attitude, ready to take on the day.  Employees are permitted to clock in seven minutes prior to start of their scheduled shift.
  • Perform start-up checklist for equipment in your assigned work area; guns, tables, nailing bridge, hoist, forklifts, etc. 
  • Report any issues to management, and always follow all safety precautions.
  • Routine tasks for building walls:
    • Load correct batch/wall into computer
    • Assemble opening for designed wall
    • Set opening into framing station if needed and set studs into framing station.
    • Nail all studs
    • Apply sheeting if required or router openings if required
    • Nail sheeting with nail gun bridge
    • Stack walls in accordance to bundles with overhead hoist.
  • Be aware of your surroundings.
    • Use caution when transferring walls from one workstation to the next.
    • Never aim nail gun at yourself or in the direction of a co-worker.
    • Keep a clean area, free of debris/ trip hazards.
  • If incident occurs you must have proper knowledge of the shutdown procedure of nail gun and clamping table, this procedure is outlined and at every machine. If you are still unclear of this process after your initial Safety in the Workplace training and Lockout Tag Out Training, ask for more in-depth training and it will be provided.
  • If injury occurs preform shut down procedures and send other employee at the table to inform your supervisor immediately.
  • Be at work on time, be back from break on time and working when you’re supposed to be, no later than 2 minutes after your break. If you have finished cleaning before the end of your shift help clean other areas of the shop. DO NOT stand around and wait for the end of shift.
