Job description

The Marketing Communications Manager’s mission is to develop and implement comprehensive promotional and communication strategies that enhance company and brand awareness, drive demand, and foster engagement. Additionally, the Marketing Communications Manager oversees processes, technology, and performance metrics to streamline and optimize marketing operations, ensuring efficient and effective execution of all marketing, promotional, and communication activities.

Core Business Objectives – 80%

  • Plan, oversee execution, and optimize promotional campaigns across various channels, including social media, search engines, websites, email, display, trade advertising, and content marketing. Ensure consistency in corporate (Nekoosa and M2S Group) brand voice and visuals across all channels.
  • Oversee the creation of marketing materials, including website content, advertising copy, social media posts, email blasts, and newsletters. Ensure that content is consistent with the brand's messaging and tone.
  • Manage and optimize the company’s website, digital content, and campaigns using HubSpot CMS to capture leads, automate campaigns, and track sales opportunities.
  • Track and analyze the performance of communication initiatives and campaigns. Regularly report key metrics, such as reach, engagement, and ROI to internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage a communications/promotions calendar. Collaborate with other departments, such as product management, product marketing, sales, and product development to ensure alignment and support for communication initiatives.
  • Oversee the execution of trade shows, webinars, and corporate events. Develop communication materials and promotional strategies for events.
  • Manage and direct all relationships with professional agencies and corporate partnerships.
  • Develop and manage the budget for marketing communication activities, ensure cost-effective resource use, and track spending.

Organizational Development – 20%

  • Coach and mentor team members, lead by example, and model behaviors that align with Nekoosa’s core values of ‘growth-focused, be authentic, win together.’
  • Achieve ‘meets or exceeds expectations’ for all objectives.

Supporting Activities

  • Product Launches & Go-To-Market Strategy – Execute on go-to-market strategies as defined by the segment managers. Lead the marketing communications and lead generation efforts for each product launch.
  • Lead Generation & Nurturing—Work with segment managers to create product-related demand-generation campaigns. Optimize digital marketing assets, such as websites, landing pages, and forms, to capture leads efficiently. Develop compelling key messages and automated workflows that nurture leads through the buyer’s journey.
  • Corporate Social Responsibility & ESG – Partner with the Sustainability Engineer and executive leadership team to communicate the company’s commitment to social and environmental responsibility. Seek necessary logo approvals for FSC® and SFI®-certifications.

*This role may also support or lead additional marketing projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, business, or a related field is required.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in marketing communications or a related field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing channels and tools, including SEO, SEM, social media, email marketing, and analytics.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
  • Knowledge of HubSpot, AI, social media platforms, and other marketing tools.
  • Previous experience managing a team of specialists and coordinators is preferred.
