Job description

Established and growing specialty contractor in Tempe is seeking an Analyst responsible for Payroll Processing and Job Cost Reporting to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Payroll Professional interested in an expanded role, or career advancement in the construction industry.

Responsibilities include weekly payroll processing for our main Union entity, and bi-weekly processing for a small but growing non-Union startup. We use Foundation ERP synched with Foundation Mobile App (for time capture by employee & job), and Payroll4Construction (Foundation’s integrated payroll processing service). After payroll is processed (by mid-Wednesday), responsibility shifts to preparation of the weekly Work-In-Process (WIP) report for weekly Teams review with management, and other Accounting and reporting duties. Role reports directly to the Controller and will have Month-end Close duties such as Payroll Accruals, reconciliation of Payroll Liability accounts, and will assist with annual Budgets and Audits. Need someone sharp, strong in Excel, with good organizational, time-management, and communication skills. Construction industry, job costing, Union Payroll, or Foundation ERP experience a plus, but willing to train.

Payroll Administrator with strong analytical and computer skills needed -
  • Full-time role split between weekly Payroll Processing, and Project Reporting & Analysis
  • Job-Costed Payroll for a rapidly growing multi-state, multi-entity Specialty Contractor with over 200 employees – both Union and Non-union
  • Degree preferred but not required. Five years of accounting/clerical experience, advanced Excel skills, and previous Payroll experience strongly desired
  • Prior experience working in an ERP environment (Construction ERP System a plus)
  • Prior experience with a Payroll Service such as ADP or Payroll4Construction, using a Mobile App for Employee Time Capture, and synching or importing hours for payroll processing
  • Preparing and submitting Payroll for review and processing, overseeing Direct Deposits, Garnishments & Tax Reports processed by Payroll4Construction, electronic record retention
  • Coordinating tax notices, Unemployment Insurance rate changes, multi-state licensing and other correspondence with Payroll4Construction
  • Assist in Maintaining Union Roles, Pay Rates and Dues
  • Processing Expense Reimbursements and Off-cycle Disbursements for Terminations, Missed Time, or Subsistence
  • Weekly 401k Plan submittals, monthly Union accruals, reporting and payments
  • Weekly WIP report preparation and participation in weekly Management Review meetings
  • Assist Controller in maintaining Burden rates, preparing accruals, overhead analysis & reporting
  • Month-end Payroll Accruals, reconciliation of Payroll Liability Accounts, other month-end duties
  • Preparing Commission and Bonus accruals for quarterly/annual payouts.
  • Assisting with annual Insurance Audits, 401k and Financial Audits, Certified Payroll/Davis Bacon reporting, and other duties as assigned

Need motivated self-starter, organized, pro-active, and able to manage conflicting priorities. Willing to work occasional overtime to meet deadlines.
