Job description

Job Title: External Insurance Agent (Independent Contractor)
Department: Outside Agents Program
Reports To: Outside Agent Coordinator (Operational Support)
Employment Type: Independent Contractor / Commission-Based
Location: Remote (United States)
Position Summary

Ross Insurance Brokers is seeking motivated and entrepreneurial External Insurance Agents to join our growing network of independent sales professionals. As an External Agent, you will represent Ross Insurance Brokers by offering approved Health Sharing and Life Insurance products to individuals and families.

This is a commission-only opportunity designed for experienced sales professionals who are confident in building their own pipeline, managing client relationships, and closing business while enjoying the flexibility of working independently.

Each External Agent will receive onboarding, product training, sales resources, and ongoing support from a dedicated Outside Agent Coordinator to ensure they have the tools necessary to succeed.
Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Generate new sales opportunities through personal prospecting, referrals, networking, and other approved marketing efforts.
  • Present and explain Health Sharing and Life Insurance products to prospective clients.
  • Recommend appropriate products based on clients' needs and financial objectives.
  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships.
  • Consistently work toward meeting or exceeding personal sales goals.
Pipeline Management

  • Maintain an organized and up-to-date sales pipeline.
  • Track all prospects from initial contact through policy issuance.
  • Follow up with prospective clients in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of submitted applications and pending business.
Sales Administration

  • Submit complete and accurate applications and required documentation.
  • Monitor the status of submitted business until completion.
  • Report any application issues promptly.
  • Maintain personal records of submitted sales for commission tracking purposes.
Compliance

  • Follow all applicable state insurance regulations.
  • Adhere to Ross Insurance Brokers' policies, procedures, and ethical sales standards.
  • Ensure all client information is handled confidentially and securely.
Communication

  • Maintain regular communication with the Outside Agent Coordinator regarding:
    • Product questions
    • Licensing or contracting concerns
    • Application status
    • Sales support needs
    • Operational questions

Commission & Compensation

This position is 100% commission-based.

Commission payments are processed at the end of the month following the month in which the sale was completed and commission is received by Ross Insurance Brokers.


Example:

  • Sales made in June
  • Eligible commission paid at the end of July
Commission payouts are subject to carrier approval, policy issuance, and applicable chargeback policies.
Qualifications

Required

  • Active Life and Health Insurance License (where required for the products sold)
  • Previous sales experience
