Job Description

We are looking to hire a TEMP News Operations Center Operator supporting KNBC and KVEA technical operations in Los Angeles, CA. This role will be freelance in a temporary capacity. 

  • Coordinate with News assignment desk & editorial staff as well as Media Managers for required newsfeeds via Microwave, Fiber, Satellite, and Cellular bonded news systems and future technology.
  • Operate complex ENG microwave control systems, satellite systems, CBNG systems, and beauty camera systems.
  • Perform Quality control on all ingested feeds including Video, Audio, Microphone levels, and IFB operation.
  • Coordinate feed routing to studio control rooms.
  • Coordinate IFB assignments to field crews and Helicopter via RTS and 450 radio"
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Network Operation Center / Technical Operation Center or the equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with digital microwave transmission systems
  • In-depth knowledge Electronic News Gathering and Digital Satellite News Gathering operations
  • Knowledge and experience in remote control Electronic News Gathering control systems
  • Familiarity with digital video communication systems

Eligibility Requirements

  • This position is covered under a collective bargaining agreement between the Company and the National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians Union (NABET).  Successful candidate will be required to join the NABET Union if not already a member and remain a member in good standing of that union
  • Willingness to work overtime, evenings, and on weekends with short notice, and respond to emergency calls
