Overview

The Coffee Shop Manager oversees the daily operations of the coffee shop, ensuring exceptional customer experiences, high-quality beverages and food, and efficient staff management. This role combines leadership, operational oversight, and a passion for coffee culture to create a welcoming environment for customers and a productive, motivated team. The Coffee Shop Manager will also be cross-trained to support convenience store operations and assist with store functions as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Oversees daily shop operations, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, mentors and manages performance of baristas and other staff members.
  • Schedules team members efficiently to meet business demands and labor budgets.
  • Conducts performance reviews and provides ongoing coaching.
  • Manages inventory levels, places orders, and manages vendor relationships.
  • Ensures equipment is maintained and functioning properly.
  • Implements and maintains operational standards, procedures, and cleanliness.
  • Ensures all beverages and food items meet company quality standards.
  • Addresses and resolves customer concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Manages cash handling and daily deposits.
  • Monitors and drives sales, labor costs, food and beverage margins, and other key performance metrics through active performance management.
  • Assist with cost control to meet profitability goals.
  • Maintains clear, consistent communication with staff, management, and vendors.
  • Effectively communicate company policies, procedures, and expectations.
  • Ensures an environment which adheres all aspects of serving safe food and beverages
  • Practices all company safety procedures to ensure a safe environment for team members and customers.
  • Provides friendly and competent customer service.
  • Supports convenience store operations as needed, including:
    • Operating POS for store transactions.
    • Assisting customers with purchases and inquiries.
    • Stocking shelves and maintaining product displays.
    • Maintaining cleanliness and organization in the store.
  • Reports for work in a timely manner when scheduled.

Additional Job Duties:

  • Assists with other duties as assigned.

  • This role position provides direct supervision to a team of staff members.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience (include certs or licenses needed):

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Previous management experience in a coffee shop or restaurant preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Basic math and computer skills for POS and reporting purposes.
  • Maintain a professional, positive attitude.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to promote teamwork, collaboration, multitasking, problem solveing and working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Food safe certified through accredited program recognized by the state in which the store operates/ability to become certified within the training period.
  • Willing and able to work early mornings, holidays, weekends, and flexible shifts.
  • Must be able to communicate in English
