Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

Manages a team of production planners, assists in planning and scheduling production and monitoring performance against estimates. Responsible for capacity, production and material planning.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Supervises and assists production planning team.
  • Develop detailed production schedules for all manufacturing processes, considering lead times, capacity constraints, and material availability.
  • Coordinates various departments of manufacturing.
  • Works on process improvements to ensure smoother operations for all departments.
  • Supports and trains all departments to ensure proper processes in the MRP system.
  • Work with manufacturing leadership and HR to suggest head count adjustments to support demand requirements.
  • Plan and manage production schedules to ensure 100% on-time delivery of all customer orders.
  • Provide solutions to overcome capacity challenges to maintain on-time delivery.
  • Ensure that materials and equipment are available when needed for production process.
  • Plans and coordinates changes in scheduling to accommodate special requests.
  • Recommends new policies or procedures as necessary.
  • Maintaining inventory, production operations, and scheduling parameters within MRP/ERP.
  • Prepares Production KPIs – for example plan vs actual labor hours and output and OTD.
  • Close collaboration with manufacturing, purchasing, and materials personnel on material status and production planning.
  • Expediting and prioritizing job orders with Project Managers.
  • Coordinating and managing internal production meetings.
  • Regular attendance, ability to arrive at work punctually, and the ability to work on–site.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others, ability to deal respectfully with the public, customers, vendors, other employees, managers, and executive management.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, ability to interchange with others in the department.

REQUIREMENTS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES)

  • Ability to supervise up to 10 exempt employees. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Kelvion Inc.’s policies, procedures and applicable laws. Responsibilities will include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Google Docs software required.
  • Experience operating within MRP and ERP systems and scheduling (APS) tools required to include a solid understanding of manufacturing, resource capacity controls, production routes, and material management functions.
  • Ability to clearly communicate, collaborate, and infuse urgency to planning and manufacturing team. Directing employees’ work; planning and controlling the budget for department; providing for the safety of the employees; planning the work; determining the techniques to be used; apportioning the work among the workers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (required levels)

  • Minimum 5 years of proven experience in production planning and scheduling within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials management, and inventory control principles.
  • Advanced understanding of manufacturing Supply Chain required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is a benefit.
