Overview

At Colliers Engineering & Design (CED), our mission is to advance the built environment to accelerate the success of our communities, clients, and people. Guided by our vision to lead the industry through expertise, innovation, and sustainable solutions, the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) plays a critical role in realizing that ambition.

As a key member of the leadership team, the CMO drives a strategic, insight-driven, and client-focused marketing function that connects business goals, brand strategy, and client engagement across all markets and disciplines. This role ensures that marketing is a core driver of growth, innovation, and alignment across the enterprise.

Partnering closely with the CEO and executive leadership, the CMO aligns marketing strategy with firmwide business objectives and market intelligence, building the structure, systems, and talent needed to support CED’s continued expansion. Leading a multidisciplinary organization spanning Public Relations, Communications, Brand and Design, Digital Strategy, Marketing Technology, Market Strategists, and regional marketing teams, the CMO ensures integrated marketing and business development efforts that elevate visibility, engagement, and growth across all divisions.

Please note that candidates who are not based in our Holmdel, NJ headquarters will be required to travel to the office as needed.


Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Alignment

  • Develop and execute a firmwide marketing strategy aligned with CED’s mission and vision for leadership through innovation and expertise.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor and trusted partner to the CEO and executive team, ensuring marketing informs business planning, growth, and integration.
  • Design and implement scalable systems, processes, and playbooks to drive consistency and efficiency across divisions.
  • Align marketing priorities and investments with the firm’s highest-value opportunities to achieve measurable ROI.
  • Embed CED’s purpose and values into all marketing activities to reinforce a trusted, unified brand.

People, Structure & Development

  • Build and sustain a high-performing marketing organization with clear roles, accountability, and capabilities aligned to business goals.
  • Lead with integrity and agility, positioning marketing as a trusted, strategic partner in firmwide growth.
  • Develop leadership depth and succession pipelines through mentorship and professional growth opportunities.
  • Foster a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and accountability that empowers marketers to innovate and deliver results.

Brand Strategy & Market Positioning

  • Lead the ongoing evolution of the CED brand to ensure consistency, relevance, and differentiation across markets.
  • Champion a compelling brand narrative highlighting CED’s technical excellence, innovative spirit, and community impact.
  • Ensure the quality and consistency of brand assets, messaging, and storytelling across all channels.
  • Connect CED’s work to its broader purpose through authentic storytelling, thought leadership, and client engagement.

Innovation, Insights & Technology

  • Promote a culture of innovation, encouraging new ideas, tools, and approaches that drive performance.
  • Stay at the forefront of marketing, communications, and client engagement trends to maintain CED’s competitive edge.
  • Champion marketing technologies, automation, and analytics to enhance scalability and data-driven decisions.
  • Leverage research, benchmarking, and client insights to anticipate opportunities and inform strategy.

Marketing Performance & Effectiveness

  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure marketing effectiveness and impact.
  • Use analytics and insights to optimize strategies, resources, and client engagement outcomes.
  • Drive budget discipline and ROI accountability to ensure marketing investments deliver business value.
  • Promote transparency and continuous improvement across marketing operations.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as a strategic connector across the firm, ensuring marketing contributes meaningfully to enterprise strategy and growth.
  • Build strong partnerships with executive, divisional, and functional leaders to align goals and deliver unified strategies.
  • Strengthen collaboration among marketing, business development, and operations to enhance client experience and market reach.
  • Support integration, change, and growth initiatives with clear communication and strategic alignment.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or Business; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of senior marketing leadership experience in complex, multi-division organizations; experience in growth or transformation environments preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in the AEC industry, preferably within engineering and/or architecture organizations preferred.

  • Prior experience working in a large, complex firm environment is strongly preferred. “Large” is defined as organizations with 1,000+ employees, multi-office national footprints, and multiple service lines, divisions, or market sectors.

  • Experience supporting or operating within a high-growth organization, including exposure to mergers and acquisitions, integration efforts, or rapid scaling initiatives, is highly desirable and considered a strong differentiator.

  • Proven success developing and executing integrated marketing strategies that drive measurable business growth.
  • Deep understanding of brand strategy, client engagement, and data-driven marketing, ideally within professional services or related industries.
  • Strong business acumen with expertise in financial management, performance metrics, and ROI analysis.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and change management skills; able to inspire and align diverse teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance strategic vision with disciplined execution across functions and markets.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Compensation: $200,000 to $280,000 per year (depending on qualifications)
