Overview:
Sentara Obici Hospital is hiring a Clinical Nurse Manager for our Med-Surg/Oncology Specialty in Suffolk, VA!
The RN Clinical Manager for Med-Surg/Oncology Specialty can expect 25 direct reports including RN's, Unit Coordinators, Patient Care Technicians, LPN's, and administrative staff. This is a 12-bed unit with a nurse ratio of 1:4 with an average stay of 4 days per patient. Hours are primarily 8 hour days with 24/7 accountability. Some flexibility to meet with evening, weekend, and night shift staff is expected.
The Clinical Nurse Manager has overall accountability for the daily operations of one or more clinical areas. Supervises patient care services staff, ensures excellent patient safety and quality outcomes as well as extraordinary patient/family experience. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, developing and retaining staff with the goal of developing a highly reliable team. Demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills to achieve unit and corporate goals. Assists in the development and monitoring of unit budget, coordinates purchasing and payroll processes and serves as a clinical resource to team members.
About the Unit
The Med-Surg/Oncology Specialty Unit is a 12-bed unit that primarily serves medical-surgical patients receiving oncology treatments including intravenous infusions and therapeutic injections. Our staff are trained to administer chemotherapy, biological therapies or supportive blood transfusions. This is a very low turn over area offering a well-rounded clinical experience, combining the fast-paced variety of med-surg nursing with the rewarding, relationship-based care of oncology. This team is known for its strong sense of teamwork, excellent leadership, and supportive culture. Nurses on this unit enjoy low patient ratios that allow for focused, quality care, and a fair every third weekend rotation that provides a healthy balance between work and personal time.

Education
  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN (Required)
  • MSN Preferred

Certification/Licensure
  • Registered nursing License (Required)
  • Nationally recognized certification (Preferred)
  • CNL (Clinical Nurse Leader) or CMNL (Nurse Manager and Leader) preferred
  • CMSRN-Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Preferred.
  • OCN-Oncology Certified Nurse Preferred.

Experience
  • 1 year of previous management experience OR 2 years' experience in a support leadership RN position, (Required)
  • 3 years of nursing experience (Required)
  • 5+ years of nursing experience preferred
  • Medical Surgical or Oncology background preferred
