The University of Vermont's Student Health Services team seeks a Clinic Assistant (CA). The CA is a direct patient care role that prepares patients and clinic spaces for a variety of appointment types. The CA manages administrative and clinical tasks including; charting, scheduling adjustments, phone calls, assessments, diagnostic tests, point of care lab testing, and procedures. Key Responsibilities:
- The CA prepares patients and exam spaces for appointments by setting up equipment, recording patient information, collecting vital signs, reviewing patient medications, and allergies. The CA looks for opportunities to improve workflow and patient experiences by communicating findings with coworkers.
- Performance of point of care lab testing will be conducted by the CA in a variety of appointment types to support proper diagnosis and treatment plans for patients.
- The CA will perform or assist with a variety of diagnostic tests including EKGs, Orthostatic Vital Signs, and specialty clinic intakes.
- Assist with procedures performed by nurse and provider staff such as; wound care, splinting, fitting of commercial devices, device implant/removal, irrigation and debridement.
- Crucial to preventative health efforts in the community, the CA will complete a variety of questionnaires, participate in vaccination clinics, and work with the team at health promotion events within the community.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- High School Diploma.
- Two years of medical experience with direct patient care.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Desirable Qualifications
- Current State of Vermont LNA license, EMT license, or Certification as a Medical Assistant from a qualified program.
- Experience with an electronic health record system.
- Demonstrated competency in clinical assistant tasks (vital signs, point of care testing, patient screening).
Anticipated Pay Range
$25-$29 per hour
