Newlands Church — Katy, TXAbout NewlandsNewlands Church is a growing, multi-site church in the Katy/Fulshear area serving thousands of people across our campuses. We exist to help people find and follow Jesus — and our staff exists to build environments where that happens weekend after weekend, and in the everyday rhythms of life.About the RoleThe Next Steps Coordinator is a detail-oriented, people-facing role that keeps our Guest Experience and Build Team ministries running smoothly. You’ll handle scheduling, volunteer communication, and weekend prep — all while helping people find their place and take their next step at Newlands. This is a part-time role that requires weekend availability and a heart for serving well behind the scenes.What You’ll DoGuest Experience
  • Send weekly communication to Weekend Teams (Greeters/Ushers, Guest Central/Hosts, Parking Team, etc.)
  • Schedule and coordinate Host Team volunteers through Planning Center
  • Recruit, onboard, and train new volunteers
  • Assist in planning and executing Guest Experience for weekend services and special events (e.g., Churchwide Baptism, Communion, Night of Worship)
  • Coordinate First Time Guest and New Believer follow-up
  • Collaborate across departments (Worship, Kids, Facilities, Café, Security, etc.) to create a welcoming atmosphere

Next Steps
  • Assist with the onboarding of new Build Team volunteers
  • Manage Next Steps and Host Team workflows in Planning Center
  • Coordinate scheduling and training between new team members and Team Leads
  • Manage the Next Steps email account

Administrative
  • Schedule food and drink delivery/pickup for weekends and special events
  • Coordinate café supply orders and special event setup
  • Assist with expense reports and budget management
  • Help plan and execute Build Team Rallies and Baptism Weekends
  • Complete tasks and projects assigned through Basecamp
What We’re Looking For
  • Some previous work experience, ideally in a church, volunteer coordination, or events context
  • Some college preferred
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to juggle multiple priorities
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work effectively with volunteers, staff, and varying personalities
  • Adaptable with a positive, solutions-first attitude
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Planning Center Online, Slack, and Basecamp
  • CPR Certification preferred or willingness to complete upon hire
  • Ministry Safe / Sexual Abuse Prevention training required
  • A growing personal relationship with Christ and alignment with our mission and values

  • Part-time, non-exempt / Support Staff — on-site in Katy, TX
  • Weekend availability required; schedule varies based on ministry calendar
  • Reports to Next Steps Pastor
