Communications Director General Ministry & Job Description

The Communications Director leads the development and execution of a communication strategy that advances the mission and vision of Lakeshore Community Church. This proactive and collaborative leader brings strengths in communication, design, and team development.

This role oversees all digital and print communication channels – including Lakeshore’s website, mobile app, email, and social media platforms – to effectively engage both the church and the surrounding community.

Working closely with staff and ministry leaders, the Communications Director ensures communication across all teams is clear, consistent, and aligned. They also foster a healthy, innovative creative culture by recruiting and leading volunteers who align with Lakeshore’s vision.

Big Four: Promotional Strategy, Digital Communication, Social Media Management, Project management.

Position Responsibilities & Vision
  • Promotional Strategy
    • Develop and manage systems to organize, prioritize, and communicate promotional requests.
    • Create and implement marketing strategies to effectively communicate within the church and to the broader community.
    • Review, manage, and approve requests for event promotion.
    • Collaborate with ministry leaders in the planning and execution of comprehensive promotional strategies.
  • Digital Communication
    • Lead the strategy and execution of all digital communication channels, including Lakeshore’s website, mobile app, and email marketing.
    • Ensure all church communications are clear, consistent, and aligned in voice and visual design with Lakeshore’s brand standard.
    • Oversee website content, structure, and SEO to ensure an effective and user-friendly online presence that reaches our target audience.
    • Monitor analytics and performance metrics to evaluate effectiveness and continuously refine strategy.
    • Establish and maintain communication best practices for staff and volunteers.
  • Social Media Management
    • Develop and execute a social media strategy that builds engagement and extends reach.
    • Oversee all social media platforms, ensuring content is relevant, engaging, and aligned with the church’s mission.
    • Create and curate content, including writing clear and compelling captions and gathering media assets.
    • Monitor analytics and performance metrics to evaluate effectiveness and continuously refine strategy.
  • Project Management
    • Oversee the planning and execution of communication projects and campaigns to ensure timely and effective delivery.
    • Manage multiple projects by establishing priorities, tracking progress, and resolving challenges.
    • Develop and improve systems and workflows to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Perform additional project management responsibilities as needed.
Personal Qualifications & Skills
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a communications or related role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or a related field preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Meta Business Suite.
  • Working knowledge of Google Analytics, Business Profile, Brand Accounts, Nonprofits, and Ads Manager.
  • Familiarity with Planning Center church management software.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining a high standard of excellence.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with people of all ages from diverse backgrounds and temperaments.
  • Ability to follow direction and execute detailed tasks with accuracy.
  • Experience in event coordination is a plus.
  • Ability to recruit, train, and lead volunteer teams.
